Hey guys ive got a friend that went with taller slicks and he said that he would sell me his old hoosier slicks that are 15/10(maybe 10.5 dont remember)/26 in tall. I would like to buy some centerline telstars as they are fairly cheap. But will the above slicks work on the 15/8 telstars. I did a search and didn't really find much, just that i should get 5.5 backspacing.
Thanks
James

All you need to do is look at Hoosier's website. For their 26x10-15 slicks, they recommend a 9" or 10" rim. The general rule-of-thumb on a slick is to use a wheel no more than 1" wider or narrower than the tread. The 26x10-15 has a 10" tread.

So i wouldn't be able to get away with running the 26/10/15 on telstar 15x8s then would i.
Thats weird though because the 26'' tall tire says 9-10'' rim and the 28/10 tire says 8-10'' rim will work...why is that?
Thanks injuneer

The 26" tire has a 5.5" sidewall. The 28" tire has a 6.5" sidewall. I guess there's more sidewall to accept the flex.
Are you sure the Hoosiers are true "slicks"? If they are the Quick Time Prio DOT tires, you can use them on an 8" wide wheel.

Hey thanks for all your help injuneer, but i think im just gona go the same way as you did and get some 15x10 prostarts.
What all should i need as for lug nuts(wouldn't mind using stockers if they would work), and will i need longer studs to pass tech? I already know that i have to grind the calipers down a bit and that doesnt bother me.

You can't use the stock conical lugnuts with the Weld Pro-Stars or Draglites. They require an "extra long shank mag-style" lug with washer. The wheels have a 1" thick floating plate between the front and rear halves of the wheel, and the lugs have a shank that goes inside the oversize holes in the wheels, and centers the wheel and the floating plate on the studs.
I doubt the stock 2" studs will work with the Pro-Stars (I have 3" screw ins, on Strange axles). NHRA tech requires that the threads of the stud engage the lugs by "one stud diameter" in the hex portion of the lug. In other words, even though the mag-style shanks have more than 1" of threads in the shank that engage the stud threads, NHRA will not give you any credit for that. Essentially, 1/2" of the threads must be all the way out into the hex portion of the lugnut. I got warned on my front wheels using the stock studs, but the front wheels also have a 5/16" spacer.
Lingenfelter sells a 2.67" stud, 12mm-1.5, .50X" knurl that replaces the stock stud. It will meet tech. Problem is it has an additional 5/8" of unthreaded "end", which sticks way out and makes it impossible to put your stock street wheels on. You could cut some of the unthreaded length off. ARP and GM Performance Parts also sell longer studs, but I think the GMPP's are the same as the Lingenfelter piece. Not sure about the ARP's.

Thanks once again man. For now im just gona get some prostars for the back...the track i go to is kind of leanient on stuff so ill probly be able to get away with it for awhile. If i end up selling my pickup i will deffenetly be getting some for the front too.
Btw your car looks awsome man...nice office. Have you run it on the bigger shot yet? It would be cool to have a 10 sec time slip on your hands.
