I was driving around in my '96 camaro m6 with borla exhaust and ram-air and I saw a camaro berlinetta so I talked to him and he was pretty cocky and we drove out of town and raced from a stop. I hit the gas and and spun through first and we were neck and neck then i shifted into 2nd and I was gone then after a while i slowed down to 70 and he came flying up on me so when he went out to pass i downshifted and he instantly stopped gaining then after a couple of seconds I pulled away on him. He should've known he wouldnt beat my 96. :D

-Dustin-There was one made in the late 70's and earlier 80's..think the last one they made was 85...this is probably the one he raced...I think my 2003 4x4 chevy tracker can take it out

The Berlinetta is basically the shatty Camaro everyone ever feared of. They had ugly wire spoked rims, no ground-fx *which made it look HIDEOUS), very week engines, UGLY ASSED interiors (the steering wheel, dash, seats, etc) that were disguisting; really they are just a drive-around car.
BUT.. i have heard of several people swapping in 350's, so I dunno; maybe you ran into one of those, or maybe you ran into a hopped-up Berlinetta.

I like the later third gens alot. I had dreams of turning my 92 RS into a performance beast (Engine swap and a bunch of other things) But, I ended up totalling it and well, performance wise I wanted something more, so I ended up with my 97z. If I had the money I would love to have a third gen as a project car, when done right.....they can look damn sexy! :D

back in the 80's and the early early 90's Id take a 5.0 :D
HAHA yea those 2.8's are slower than anything.I've figured out the only way to have any chance against anybody is if you get a jump on them and build momentum.Dont hit the brakes cause it takes way to long to get back up to speed.Trust me i speak from experiance...and my 2.8 is even weaker than when it came from the factory...just read my signature,281K KM's.I think i might be lucky to put down 90HP to the wheels on a good day.
