bunker 05-07-2005, 12:18 PM For this Friday 13th, me & Jazz were thinking of making a dyno day out of it.
Start at 9am right through, everyone post who is coming 100%.
Should be fun here is the list so far:
Matt (B-body)
Jazz corvette
Jazz Camaro SS with G5X... cam
Jeepo STS turbo kit
Camaro Chriss AFR 220's (99%)
OK its set, all the above are coming, no others accepted, we all need dyno tunning time Made arrangements for all 5 and said everyone is coming 100% this time around.
DYNO START TIME: 9-AM Tomorrow Friday 13th good luck :)!
Camaro ChriSS 05-07-2005, 01:22 PM I'm going to try and make that day.
Will some tuning time be ok, if I needed to spend 45-60 minutes on the dyno rather than 20 minutes? If not, that should be ok still. I think I'll have a good street-tuned program by then, so I might just dyno that with the cutout.
93formula 05-08-2005, 02:11 AM jeepo would like to dyno in the AM
Drumhawk 05-08-2005, 03:53 PM jeepo would like to dyno in the AMThe CETA? Has he dyno'd the bird yet?
bunker 05-08-2005, 04:32 PM Yes there will be dyno time for tunnin of coarse, I'm hoping to get 8 cars, Chriss its either in or out, none of this I'll try to make it because it looks silly.
93formula 05-08-2005, 07:51 PM The CETA? Has he dyno'd the bird yet?
he will on friday, he wanted to wait for the fuel pump and bigger injectors, but this will be some base tuning and fun dyno.
Camaro ChriSS 05-08-2005, 11:35 PM Chriss its either in or out, none of this I'll try to make it ...
lol! I understand. I'm pretty sure I'll do it, but when do you want to know by? And, what cost?
Jeepoo 05-10-2005, 10:22 AM I'll be there. Hey Bunker did you get the HP Tuner back in your Laptop.
Armin
bunker 05-10-2005, 02:09 PM Great yes I did get it back on the lap top :)
Camaro ChriSS 05-10-2005, 02:47 PM I assume its $100 for an hour of tuning? I'll know tonite if I can make the time for Friday, mid morning. I just have several work projects on the go and I need to make sure they are on track before I commit. I'm trying not to be wishy-washy on this, but I am busy right now with work.
bunker 05-10-2005, 04:01 PM Great I scheduled for all the cars on the list to come, don't sell out!!!
It will be $100/h for the guys that will take less the price will be less accordingly, so if the full 1 hour is not used up then we're good, 5 cars is pretty much all we need since all of us are going to be tunning, this isn't the normal dyno day where you make 3 runs and out, I think thats kinda useless for us so we'll do $100/h and for the guys that take less time the price will be adjusted.
Ok guys there will be no selling out it makes us look really bad and we already stink for meetings, I'm sure we'll all put out awesome numbers.
Goblin355C4 05-10-2005, 06:32 PM Hey Matt...u talk to craig about the efi live....the ss is ready to roll but i wanna get at least a start-up tune in ther so we can get it tuned....let me know.
Thanks
Draco 05-10-2005, 07:17 PM Hey JAzz,
first of all EFILive ****ing rocks! I cannot believe how well the scan/tune tools work. Unfortunately they do not have support for 98s yet, but that is their #1 priority right now.
I will keep you updated, I am checking their site and forums 2-3 times per day. If you want to buy the VIN now or soon let me know I could use the cash hehe.
bunker 05-10-2005, 10:16 PM Yeah EFI live looks pretty nice compared to HP tunners for sure and the sweet features as well.
Also yes if you want we can do a base tune for now.
oldschool 05-10-2005, 10:54 PM Does no one on this board work!?!? ;)
Schedule a dyno day for a weekend or after 12ish so I could take a half day off :)
My truck looks like it will sell tonight (offer on the table), so I will have the TA on the road instantly after that! :D Then off to ANOTHER chassis shop to figure out what is wrong with all the wheel hop.
Andy
93formula 05-10-2005, 11:03 PM weekday is cheaper:p

Well feel free to come after 12 are you gonna come through or sell out again?
BTW this is bunker
oldschool 05-11-2005, 01:37 AM I've never committed and sold out :)
bunker 05-11-2005, 04:16 AM Ok anyways its set, everyone on the list MUST come, no others accepted, sorry Andy.
blue 79 Z/28 05-11-2005, 04:29 PM no spectating? :p
Camaro ChriSS 05-11-2005, 05:06 PM You can put me down as 100% rather than the 99%. It will be around 9:00-10:00 that I'll arrive, depending on traffic. Perhaps sooner.
Be fun having a few 400 rwhp cars dynoing. I think I'l bring my camcorder.
IPISSONFORDS 05-11-2005, 06:57 PM Awww man, dyno day on a friday don't you guys have jobs???
Camaro ChriSS 05-11-2005, 07:15 PM You sound just like Andy!
Ah well - workdays are tough for most people, but in this case, it happens to work ok for some of us. Let's just call this a sampler dyno day... :)
But if you look at it another way, doing it on a weekday, if people take off work for it, then you are not likely to have any no-shows. :irk:

good point!
bunker 05-12-2005, 02:55 PM Tomorrow is the day! :)
mr00jimbo 05-12-2005, 08:16 PM Pffft I'll come and run the highest numbers of the day!
Haha jk *goes back and hides in the corner*
Jeepoo 05-14-2005, 02:04 PM Well I finally got on the Dyno. Kit has been on the car since July '04 and had never been tuned. The car has 97,000 KM on it and still runs original platinum plugs, which by now probably don't have any platinum left and are probably over a .500 gap. Anyways, the first pull was 340 rwhp and 368 rwt. Matt did some tuning and the next pull was 382 rwhp and 418 rwt. One more tune and
one more pull and we went 392.7 rwhp and 407 rwt. Tuning basically entailed
more fuel and some timing. All numbers are sae corrected.
I guess next step is new plugs, 42 lb injectors and a 255 GPH pump.
I'll install the boost controller and we'll dial in a few more hp.By the way all numbers are at 5 PSI.
We picked up 50 HP on the day. Did a couple of blasts down the back road last night and you definitely can feel a substantial difference.
By the way I also have a defective MAF so it will need some retuning after I replace it.
Armin
97TA-WS6-Con 05-14-2005, 02:24 PM I guess it makes you wonder why you waited so long for a tune :)
Jeepoo 05-14-2005, 02:52 PM No kidding.
Hey Shaun, we need to get together for that photo session. When it gets sunny again give me a call. 968 0424.
Thx. Armin
Camaro ChriSS 05-14-2005, 03:59 PM You know, I'm only guessing, but I suspect the dyno was reading lower than usual that day, so you numbers may be better than that.
If I look at my numbers from the day, I was down 12 rwhp and 20 ft-lbs of torque (SAE corrected) from 2 weeks ago. There was no tuning or mechincal reason for that. Likely a dyno reading issue.
And comparing your numbers to Angie at TR, she did get 50 rwhp more with the same 5 psi boost I think (correct me if I'm wrong). She may have headers and a pulley, but that was also thru an A4, and a Vig2800 which robs a lot. And a motor with 100,000 miles.
Put those factors together and it suggests that your peak numbers may be actually higher, even corrected.
Track times will show us some more. I think dynos are best for just tuning on one specific day, and comparing days can be tough. :)
93formula 05-14-2005, 04:09 PM yeah but jeepos car still has stock plugs, messed up maf, and dynoed at 300 rwhp initailly for a baseline(before turbo). so i think the plugs, maf, injectors and tune he should see well over 400 rwhp on 5 psi. i think the 393 may be correct. but congrats on the numbers, get that maf replaced and then you can really give it on the street! all thru stock cats and 100% emmisions legal and improved gas milage!
bunker 05-14-2005, 06:07 PM Excuses, excuses, you're all just upset that my LT1 dynoes higher then all you LS1s through a 12 bolt.
How come my numbers never change?
Dyno errors are minimal not 10 rwhp off here and there. I realize its upsetting to see an LT1 dominating but what can you do?
And also, do not compare american horesepower numbers, something in the air there.
Jeepo's numbers are good for the mods through stock cats and a broken MAF.
My dad's car ran numbers which are more then what is to be expected so highly doubt the dyno was reading low, unless somehow my dad's car with a tiny smaller then F-body cam can make more then 285rwhp.
Also, howcome noone ever complains expect you F-body guys all the time? Excuses are for your mothers, they are the only ones that wanna hear it :D
A good comparisson in Jazz, when I dynoed my 420rwhp, his vette dynoed just after me his 327rwhp, the week before he dynoed 327rwhp, and each time was about 4 runs, when then leaned her out and made 338rwhp.
No dyno erros fellas, I think the ignition wire they were mesuring from was off, because once Shane hooked it up to another wire which through off the numbers, or your tranny is starting to go Chriss.

Wow. Blimey Matt. Cover me head, paint me toes red, and call me Fred! I didn't see this thread being a LS1 vs LT1 discussion. I think I'll opt not to respond to that portion of your post at this time.
On the other matters:
I think Jeepo's numbers are fine, especially if he has a failing maf and is simply running off the VE table as a result (which the LS1 pcm defaults too when the MAF sensor fails). That would sure screw up the A/F, I believe. And, not having a pulley, better plugs, and all that other general stuff - I would sure hope that helps to improve things. I know it will. TR6's should be nice for boost, though he wasn't having any detonation, was he?
I am not too sure if your dyno results #'s have changed. I'm not too current on your past runs. But just because it doesn't happen to a car, doesn't rule it out.
And, of course, I was only making a suggestion that Jeepo may get even better numbers on another day, even if the SAE numbers are used. It does happen to people. Peak dyno numbers aren't really the most useful thing, only really being useful with respect to showing improvements from one change to another.
I am keeping my eye on my tranny, for sure. There are no signs of failure to date, but with my TC and such, even with a good cooler, its not a matter of IF the tranny will get hurt but WHEN (ouch!).
bunker 05-14-2005, 08:00 PM LOL, I'm just fooling around.
As for Jeepo, I know I changes his VE table when we were tunning ofcoarse to richen her up quite a bit.
A few launches on that A4 and I dunno, 410rwhp is quite a bit I must say for a stock A4 from what I read.
