For some strange reason...

The only company I can see keeping a attractive design is Cadillac. Seriously, years from now when I have the bread to buy one, I can't see any other companies with an attractive design. I don't know what it is, it's just a prediction....
Maybe it's something I saw or read or something, but I feel Cadillac's going to take back a lot of market share.

I'm already looking at a CTS (if I dont get a C5) and I'm only 24, they have pulled me in.
If they can keep up their good looking unique design, I'm all for it

Same here (25y/o), CTS was on my list If I didn't get a truck. I love the new Cadillacs.

Cadillac's newish corporate look is very "love it" or "hate it". In my experience those polarizing designs end up looking better in later years because they have enough personality to stand out in the crowd when cars become much more heavily styled.

I love everything about the CTS . I could easily see having a stealth grey one , with the 17" polished wheels and the 3.6/manual combo as a daily driver . I actually could be could as happy with a SRX too for that matter . I had one as a rental for 7 days . They did their homework on the SRX , it felt more like driving a tall car , it handled unbelievably ...even going by a car standard , it felt qwiker than 255hp out of the 3.6 , the 5speed auto always had the rpms in the powerband , with the true dual exhaust ( which I REAL surprised the V6 had that from the factory ) the 3.6 really sounded good , real high pitched . I couldnt even imagine how much better one would be with the northstar and AWD

Agreed, I'm 31 and Cadillac STS would be my first choice for a new car (if I could afford it) My father has a black 04 CTS with the V style upper and lower grills. Looks tough.

Yes , Yes the ones with all those odd lines , wierd lines ? It just amazes me how BMW went from a very elegant cars to downright gaudy . There isnt one bangle designed BMW that looks 1/2 as good as the one it replaces . IMO

I agree, if I were to buy a NEW luxury car, it would most likely be a CTS-v.

That Bangle guy IMO has really f*cked BMW over with ugly models. The new 5 series is absolutely hideous. I would much rather own a used pre-Bangle BMW than anything new they are putting out.

Infiniti is also making some great cars with the G35's. This might seem trivial, but I wouldn't own one because of the orange gauges.

Everyone I know halfway keels over in their zeal to expound on the greatness of the G35. I just cant bring myself to like it. Its boring like a Lexus.

Re: For some strange reason...

I think the current cadillac styling theme is pretty good, but their execution could be a lot better. I really don't like the new designs all too much, but the Cien and Sixteen were clear examples of how they could really make it work.

On the otherhand, I will say that most of the other luxury cars are not great looking either. Actually I think in general, cars now are not that good looking. It seems like every manufacturer is so hurting to develop a brand identity that they are overdoing design with grilles, headlights, and logos of almost comic book proportions. Seriously, compare the size of a logo to one on the same car of ten years ago.

Anyone remember when luxury was understated?

Definately agreed there . The new DTS and the BLS I dont think are very good examples of Cadillacs design them at all . I truely hope the larger than life eggcrate chrome grill doesnt migrate into the cars like the CTS , STS or SRX . The grill is so honkin big on the new DTS it is cartoonish , ick . The 07 CTS will be REAL telling as to how their gonna evolve the razor edge arts and science them . Hopefully its just a more streamlined and a "little" softer edged as opposed to more exaggerated like the BLS and DTS . Caddy is on its way back to the top , but they still have alot of areas (mostly sweating the last detail type stuff) that need to be addressed . Like I said , the new 07 CTS will be very telling as to what they have learned since all their new products have come to market and it will be interesting to see where Bob Lutz takes Ron Zarella's CTS .

Re: For some strange reason...

I definately used to LOVE the Arts and Science design. I still do kind of, but after seeing a concept drawing of that Cadillac based on the Equinox/Vue platform I'm starting to look at that design as kind of generic. Really, if they keep putting it on so many vehicles without revising it a little, its going to get really bland really quick.
