Z28Horn 05-04-2005, 12:58 PM Ok guys, I have a buddy w/ a 95 mustang gt, i beleive, Its the last year they offered the 5.0. Anyway, last year he had all bolt ons, headers, exhaust, intake, etc. I swamped him all last year, his best time was a 15.00 at 94 i think was the mph. This year he did a heads, cam swap, Trick Flow heads, not to sure on the cam, he showed me the dyno sheets, he's putting down 285 hp and 310 ft lbs to the wheels. He's manual, those numbers seem kinda low, anyway, my best time to date w/ my mods on my sig are 13.3 @ 105 mph, we are going to the track friday and i dont want to be embarrassed. can he go from 15.0 to a 13.0 from h/c swap. Im kinda scared but the dyno numbers dont lie. Who will win??
Zach Horn
A.C.S.
Z28whiteboy 05-04-2005, 01:42 PM Hmmm...i agree those numbers seem rather low for the amount of money and work he has in that car. What kind of tires is he on?
Z28Horn 05-04-2005, 01:45 PM 255 50 r 16 streets not to sure on brand.
Zach Horn
falchulk 05-04-2005, 02:57 PM Actually, those numbers seem high to me. Short of FOrced induction those mod 4.6's dont respond well to mods. The 95 was a dog to start with and I would be suprised if he made 200hp to the wheels stock.

the non-PI mod motors arent nothing special but add ported PI heads and cams and an intake with the appropriate bolt ons and they will run 11s NA just like an fbody will. but this one isnt a mod motor, its the pushrod 302 still. :)
Z28Horn 05-04-2005, 03:12 PM So who do you guys think will win at the track

'95 GT's have 302's not 4.6's...
Marty
guywithaZ 05-04-2005, 03:45 PM If those were my numbers I would be pissed...my friends 95 went high 13's on stock H/C...he's a hell of driver though...and I think the cars a little gifted...so if I were betting I would bet against you normally but those dyno numbers kinda suck IMO...should be fun though...
Z28Horn 05-04-2005, 03:50 PM Thats what i thought, i would just love to put his car to shame with all the cash he has in it :) . Last year i walked his ass by 15-20 cars in the quarter w/ a cai. He showed my the dyno sheets at 285 hp and 310 tq to the wheels, i was like, hey those look like my numbers on stock h/c. lol.
Zach Horn.
whatsup 05-04-2005, 03:51 PM with those numbers ...at BEST...he's a mid 13 second car. It could be a good race ...but I think you still got him. Gues you better start throwing a few more mods on... :D
Z28Horn 05-04-2005, 03:53 PM Yea, i know, i even helped him out installing his cylinder heads, i was half way thinking of putting some loot on this race. his head is huge over this h/c swap...

Marty Yea I was about to say what is he talkin about..only one way to find out go race him...sn's arent know as one of the faster years for GTs
robb4964 05-04-2005, 11:18 PM With his mods he should beat you. With his Dyno numbers it should be neck to neck.
z28forlife 05-05-2005, 01:55 AM I swear those 5.0 stangs are a bunch of dogs stock, and only a little better with some mods. I think youll still whoop up on him, he sounds like he's not the greatest driver in the world. But the only way you'll find out for sure is to go race him
9TransAM4 05-05-2005, 02:06 AM his dyno #'s seem pretty stout and i would say that he might be a close race for you. so just drive like a bat out of hell!
Z28Horn 05-05-2005, 09:51 AM As of yesterday i got my new street tires installed, they are Kumo's, 265's, hopefully i will be able to cut a better 60 foot time than 2,19 :( , if so i will have him, hopefully, i will rub it in on stock heads, cam and converter, lol.
Zach Horn,
P.s. we race friday.
Z28Horn 05-05-2005, 09:54 AM P.S. Im curious to my dyno numbers as well, do any of you guys have dyno numbers w/ similar mods as me you should let me know my ball park range, i thought i might be right around my buddy brians 5.slow. Thanks guys you help me out a lot.
Zach Horn.
z28stanger 05-05-2005, 02:36 PM Sorry man, if the dude can drive the 95 GT is gonna rape you.
'88Saleen 05-05-2005, 03:31 PM Judging from what he went bfore the H/c swap and if he's on regular radial tires he'll probally go real high 13's or posibly a 14 flat with him driving. But If he get some practice with his car he could get it to go quicker. The car has the potential to go low 13's. I had 5-litre fox body 10 years ago with out of the box windsor Sr heads( probaly flow less than trick flows), B cam, and a cobra intake that the first time out went mid 13's but after a few trips to the track I got it down to a 12.9@105.
Z28Horn 05-06-2005, 11:17 AM Well according to what 88saleen stated i should at least have him in the first couple of rounds anyway. Gotta keep in mind i got 196,000 miles on the ticker and it pulls 13.3 all day long :) so we'll see what happens. If i lose, i wont hear the end of his rustang bulls#$%^. Race day is today but by the looks of it its going to rain all night, so I will try to get a hold of him today and maybe i can run him on the street. ill let you guys know how this turns out. Thank you.
Zach Horn
1BadAzzGT 05-06-2005, 02:13 PM Werd :D
gooooo Zach! Your cars seem very similar in terms of hp. Just don't blow the launch, even though you might be nervous, and you'll hang with him/edge him out.

Even if you happen to lose (Which I doubt) it would be very close. It would'nt nothing to be ashamed of. It would of took the mustang heads and other mods to nugde out your bolt on LT1. If I was your buddy I would be kind of embarresed to need all those mods to run with a bolt on LT1. I was kind of bumbed back in '98 when stock LS1's were trapping 107mph quaters when I had my windsor sr heads ported ,added a F cam and long tubes and trapped 111mph. Thats why I have a LS1 now for my daily driver.

Yea but times have change...im sure LS1 guys are bummed now the 03/04 Cobras are trapping 113-115's stock

Just like those 03/04 Cobras are bummed that those new Z06s are going to be trapping 125 stock. ;)

I doubt it, they are only a few mods away from pulling the same feat for less than half the price.
Z28whiteboy 05-07-2005, 07:32 PM I doubt it, they are only a few mods away from pulling the same feat for less than half the price.
Just like a few mods on a LS1 will be trapping the same speed as a cobra :D ...we're talking stock for stock though. I do agree though, the cobra is a great bang for the buck.
robb4964 05-07-2005, 09:01 PM Yea but times have change...im sure LS1 guys are bummed now the 03/04 Cobras are trapping 113-115's stock
The average Trap times I have seen for a Cobra are more like 109-111. I have seen at least 20 of them run. Although I have seen a Bone stock one trap 115. Wich is Just plain crazy! But I still witnesses it none the less.
robb4964 05-07-2005, 09:12 PM Yea but times have change...im sure LS1 guys are bummed now the 03/04 Cobras are trapping 113-115's stock
Some LS1 guys are. Others just do something about it. :D
narlydude 05-07-2005, 11:30 PM all bolt ons running 15.0? wow.....slow
XtremeAaron 05-09-2005, 12:17 AM all bolt ons running 15.0? wow.....slow
I seriously hope nobody thinks that is the norm. Bone stock, I could see it, but with a full exhaust and an intake and "etc" whatever that means. This guy cannot drive. He should have been low, low 14's. As far as the 285 rwhp, that's pretty good if he's on the stock intake manifold (which I'm assuming since Z28Horn didn't say otherwise). If he is, there's quite a bit more power to be had from swapping over to an Edelbrock or TF intake manifold or something of the like. If he isn't, I have seen those numbers before, but they've gone a bit above 300rwhp with a proper tune. The Mustangs curb weight is just shy of 3300 and the camaro is almost 3500 lbs. So with his weight advantage and if he does better than some crappy 2.something sixty foot, he will take you. He can get more power out of his setup, and he should eventually be in the high 12's with proper driving.
Aaron
BirchMan98z 05-09-2005, 01:33 AM Gotta remember, the guy with bigger dyno numbers doesn't always win.
I say the GT is going to hand you your ass.
Also, keep in mind that the 95 gt's were rated at 215 (?) hp from the factory, so he's picked up an additional 100 rwhp.
Z28Horn 05-09-2005, 12:32 PM Well the races this last friday were cancelled. I DID manage to meet up with him at my buds house. He said he didnt want to run them out where we live and said he would rather wait for next friday. I did get to run him from a 40 roll leaving my buddies house, dead even up to 75-80 so this should get interesting, i dont think he will hand me my ass unless he can pull 80-105 like a madman. He was pissed. What is possible for a sixty foot time on my tires, 265's 50 series. can i beat a 2.1?? Let me know on your street tire times, suspension is stock for now. Thanks guys.
Zach Horn
P.s. His intake manifold is a used cobra intake.

Cool, should be interesting. As far as the sixty foot, a rather large factor is going to be how well the track is prepped. I know here on Tuesday night street legals at Indianapolis Raceway Park, they don't bother to put any VHT down and the track sucks, people can't get any better than a 2.something unless they're AWD. Keep us posted.
MadHandle8169 05-09-2005, 08:18 PM I hate people that can't drive their car and give a bad name to other drivers. People hit lows 14s high 13s with all the bolt-ons and are in the 12s with H/C/I.

Your so right! I try explaining this to my Friend's all the time. Some engines dont put the power down as good/steady, early. I had a friend with a 300Z that dynoed 370 to the wheels and my nearly stock TA handed him his Azzz after he got back from nopi talking **** about the LS1's he seen dynoing there. He was saying they only dyno 265 and all this other shiznit so we took it to edgewater race park where I promptly whooped him with only Lid and a catback knowing damn good and well I wouldnt dyno 370 to the wheels.
master of a-bodies 05-10-2005, 12:35 AM dont worry horn you can hide behind me and the shovel :D
friday night is the night, is he going to be at WIR also
Z28Horn 05-10-2005, 09:42 AM ZIETLOW?? IS THAT YOU, OBVIOUSLY WE WILL BE GOING TO W.I.R. FRIDAY.
If i win, he will go home with his tail between his legs, did you read the post were i raced him from a roll??, Real decent, it was dead even. What are you going to shoot for time wise??
Zach Horn
master of a-bodies 05-10-2005, 12:27 PM you should win horn
he doesnt have enough experience with the five speed to launch correctly an i gotta root (correct usage?) for the bowtie
hell, look at the douche bag 60 fts I pull with 275 DRs and a locker w/ my 4 speed
I hope I can tune the 11.99 in I have enough power just gotta get my pathetic 2.0 60 ft down. :yuck
Z28Horn 05-11-2005, 12:06 PM Oh for sure man, are you going to be doing any tuning at your house friday after you get home from school or are you going to do all your tuning at the track? We definatley have to get plastered after the races friday night, as usual. See you friday.
Zach Horn
master of a-bodies 05-11-2005, 12:27 PM I probably try some tuning with the g-tech I just got and gather up tools
I should be home by 1:00 but it is supposed to rain on Friday
as usual the t and t will probably be canceled
we can party at my house the P's are up north
btw your gear ratio is 3.73:1 or 3.73, not 3:73, sorry just a pet peve ;)
yellavette 05-11-2005, 03:26 PM What did your friend with the Z run? My old 341 rwhp beat a few stock/near stock LS1's.
I definitely agree with what you guys are saying though. Turbo cars especially, can make great peak hp numbers, but the area under the curve is pretty lame compared to the v8's. A few years back I raced a buddy of mine with a 315 rwhp fox body w/weight reduction in my 401 rwhp Supra TT. I simply couldn't beat him....at the strip or from a roll, he would still inch on me. Don't know if he was lying about his numbers, but it was very frustrating.....until I raced him again in my 445 rwhp vette and destroyed him:) At one point I had both cars at the same time and both put down around 440 rwhp, the Supra ran 13 flat @115 mph and the Vette ran 12.20's @ 120. Dyno's definitely don't tell the whole story.

Z28Horn 05-11-2005, 05:43 PM Matt, It's supposed to rain friday, DAMNIT  Test and tune always gets cancelled. We might have to give Brian a call with his 5.0 and give him a run in my car, then in yours :D . That is if t and t gets cancelled. I got my spohn lower control arms in the mail, they should be here soon :D , wussy bolt ons.

He ran a few 13.3's and a 13.2 all at 108.
