Now that the GT-500 is on the way.....Where's the GT-350?
Now that the GT-500 is on the way.....Where's the GT-350?
What is Ford going to slot in between the plain vanilla Mustang GT and the SVT Cobra Shelby GT-500? (Whoa, that's a mouthful.
)
Will Ford reuse the Mach 1 nameplate?
Will we see another Boss 302?
Of course, we all know about the historical precident for a Shelby GT-350.
Personally, I'm still dismayed by Ford's failure to introduce a production version of the "5.0 cammer." Now that MG-Rover is being liquidated, the only MG that might possibly survive is the former Qvale-based SV Power. The MG SV Power is the only vehicle that I know about that's slated for the "cammer."
Of course, a lower boost version of the GT-500's supercharged 4.6 liter is a very viable and cheap option.
The ultimate issue is whether Ford wants to limit the sale of the next "in between" performance Mustang to SVT franchise. I've never been a big fan of SVT dealers but you have to wonder if Pontiac's 2004 GTO fiasco might have scared Ford away from a non-SVT solution.

GT500 has a superchard 5.4, not 4.6.

Only cars that will be limited to SVT dealerships will be SVT branded cars.

Maybe the GT350 could be a tuned force induction 3.5 duratec. I think that would generate qenerate a lot of excitement for Ford. Also I would expect it to be $23K or so. Definately south of GT territory.
