New/Old SC Track Opened: Jefferson Pageland Dragway

It's an old 1/8th mile track outside of Pageland, SC in Jefferson. New owners bought it and restored and repaved it. Just glad to see some of the old tracks coming back to life. Wish Darlington would do the same.

Here is some more information on Pageland:

We are open Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday is test and tune with the gates opening at 5:00, staging lanes open from 5:45 until 10:00. Saturday is our race day. Gates open at 2:00. Staging lanes open at 2:45. We allow open practice on race day until 5:00. Once we start the race we don't allow test and tune passes until after the race is completed. You may ask why, and from our experence we have more track clean up from the test and tune cars. We have a class we call trophy class that is aimed at street cars that want to have fun racing. This class requires DOT tires and is the only class you can enter that night. This keeps the seasoned racer from entering a pro class and the trophy class the same night.

The cost to enter the trophy class is $15.00. This get's car and driver in the gate and entered into the race. The winner receives a trophy and $60.00. Runner up receives $40.00. This is a fun class no pressure.

Here is my best shot at directions:

From South/North/West of Charlotte, I suggest taking 77 to 485 take the Johnston Road exit stay on 521 south until Lancaster and then take SC 9 and follow the directions below.

From East of Charlotte or University area, I suggest taking Hwy 74 to 601 (Pageland Hwy) and follow it to Hwy 151.

From SE South Carolina: Follow the directions below.

From South/Southwest South Carolina: Find the best route to SC 9.

Here are detailed directions per Mike at the track:

New web site should be up maybe by the end of next week. Gary with Raceworks.com is designing it for us. The mesage board is up now as well as a general email address.

The race track is located between Pageland SC and Jefferson SC off hwy 151 on Peach Orchard Road. From south west SC take Hwy. 9 to Pageland and turn onto Hwy. 151 heading south towards the beach. Hwy. 151 and Hwy. 601 intersect each other at Hwy 9 in Pageland. Once you turn onto Hwy. 151 go one (1) mile and turn left onto Evans Mill Road. This is the road right before you pass Conbraco on your left heading south. There is a sign there advertising Atkinson moble home repair parts and Carquest auto parts. Stay on Evans Mill for four (4) mile until you reach the next stop sign. At the stop sign turn right onto Peach Orchard Road and the track is 1.5 miles on your right. If you are coming from the Darlington area on Hwy. 151 north, you turn right onto Peach Orchard Road and the track is a short distance on the left. There is a land mark there at Peach Orchard Road and Hwy. 151 and it is a old run down crane.

Re: New/Old SC Track Opened: Jefferson Pageland Dragway

Unless they closed for a short period, this track has been there for several years now. I remember about 5 or 6 years ago we took a drive one day to find it. The thing I didn't like about it, there was nothing but sand/dirt everywhere - no paved or even grass pit area. The cars driving around the pits that day were creating one giant dust cloud

As for Darlington, I don't follow you I was there the season before last (I think you were there too that night) and the track seemed okay. The biggest complaint I ever had with Darlington - actually two - is there is not enough shut-down length, and for old farts like me who don't have an air conditioned motor home there is no shade. In the summer it's just too friggin HOT!

Exactly.

Since it is right down the street from me, I will have to take a drive down and see if they fixed the dust problem.

Marshall, Thanks for the update. I didn't know. Wonder what happened? I was under the impression they were doing okay.

Tim, I would be interested in what the track is like these days. Although by the time I travel all the back roads to get there I can make it to Rockingham in the same amount of time

LOL, thanks for the invitation. I'll keep that in mind. Just be forewarned: I'm "high maintenance"

What was the reason Marshall??

So they shut down a 1/4 mile track and open up an 1/8th mile track? What the hell is the point of that?

The 1/8 mile track at Jackson/Pageland has been there for several years. Darlington closed within the last 1 to 1-1/2 years.
