masiroc566 04-30-2005, 05:29 PM Hi guys/gals....I was wondering if there is anyway to move the driverside seat back further on a 89 CAMARO Than what it goes....I have long legs and my knees are sucking the lower dash!! Are there other seat tracks that I can purchase that will allow this to be done?? Thx for your replies!!

This was the way we did it on my thunderbird super coupe. I have not tried it on my z yet.
Bayer-Z28 04-30-2005, 09:17 PM I have the 8 way driver seat and I have TOO much leg room if I put it all the way back...I'm 6'3"........How tall are you???!!!!!

Hehe, yeah, unless he's NBA height there should be no issues with legroom. I'm 6'2 and if I have the seat completely back I'm stretching for the pedals. LOL he might be going for the gangsta lean image.

I've got a pretty acceptable lean, well comfortable for me. Yeah if I have it all the way back then I'm streaching for em' my self...
I like the bucket seat feel. Back ALL the way down and the front up till it supports my thigh w/ my feet on the pedals...just about all the way...
masiroc566 04-30-2005, 11:35 PM Ok Guys!! Im 6'. The only thing I can see that could be the problem based on all your answers is that the seat tracks on the seat currently are not any good. As it is now with the tracks all the way back there is still about a foot space from the rear of the seat to the beginning of the back seat...Let me know...Thx...Also the car is a 89 camaro body style.....if that helps!!
BirchMan98z 04-30-2005, 11:39 PM Hm... do you have manual or electronic seats? Manual seats sit lower and straight so that could be part of the problem, but think with my seats all the way back there's only about 6-8" of space between the front of the rear seat and the back of my seat, so your track might be blocked.
Also, LT1 or LS1 car? LT1 cars the engine sits a few inches further back I believe, so that may cut into legroom too.
Edit: now that I see you have an 89 camaro and I've never owned one of that year/body style, I have no idea what the problem may be.
you could possibly take out the seat, remove the tracks, and redrill the holes to bolt them down a few inches back, relocate them yourself.

Hi...they are manual seats....In my GTP I have elctric seats and I have it all the way back....I dont like to drive with the steering wheel next to my chest!!! Thx again
98ztwiz 05-01-2005, 05:41 PM I'm 6'6", and i fit pretty well in mine. Another inch or two travel would probably be good, but its not that bad the way it is now, i just have my steering wheel tilted up a little higher than i would on my other car.
Demon440 05-02-2005, 12:36 AM wow and I have my seat all the way foward. Only 5'7", I like to have alot of power over the wheel and clutch.
ZeeVert 05-02-2005, 09:27 PM I'm 6-6 and I need an extra inch. My next project is to pull the seat and see what I'm dealing with. It looks like a simple move. I've done it before on other cars.
Now, if there was a way to gain a little head room?
sw89lt1 05-02-2005, 09:42 PM every one could use another inch or two :D
MustangEater82 05-03-2005, 12:00 AM I'm 6'5"
another thing that helps, is there is an option to rotate the seat back. The front of the seat moves up, and the back of the seat moves down.
Gives the extra room I need.
wack0 05-03-2005, 07:06 AM im 6'7" and i want my seat to back farther too!

That's pretty much standard procedure for any car I get into... front- full up, back-full down, full back, and generously tip the seat back. On my Impala, that puts my head about even with the door pillar.
resurrectedz28 05-05-2005, 11:25 PM Its for a 3rd gen correct? I think most people are thinking your talking about a 4th gen. Might want to right that in bold somewhere on your original post.
