Should the stock frt upper control arm pivot freely?

Just like the title says, I'm rebuilding right now with new 1le lower bushings and moog upper bushings. Was curious to know if the stock upper control arms are meant to pivot freely or if there is resistance where they act similar to a weak torsional spring? My parts are rusted so badly I really couldnt tell.

Again nothing important, and I don't want to start a spherical vs. poly discussion, just looking to clarify..

What you are feeling is the rubber bushing winding up. The arm is neutral when it is at rest and the rubber winds up when you move the arm up or down.

That is how they work, and how they provide motion without needing any grease or bearings.

This detail is lost on people that replace them with aftermarket stuff and the reason that the replacements later have problems with wear, cold flow, and squeaking.
