Metal brake line replacement?

I stipped the nut when I was trying to disconnect the brake lines at the abs side. I had to cut the line to get the ABS unit out. Anyway, what options do I have to replace it? I read somewhere that the lines don't come pre-bent from GM and you need a flare tool anyway.

Yup, flare tool (Runs about $20-$50 depending on how good of one you get), and a pipe cutter (~$10), and then a bender if you want it to be professional and "right" (Runs anywheres from $30 to $100) to properly make steel brake lines.

That's about your only option other than getting a line from a junkyard.

I have done this before. The bender only works for the first 2 or 3 bends, then you end up bending it by hand (bender doesn't fit down in there..). You have to be extremely careful not to kink the line when bending it by hand. You can get straight brake line stock and fittings from most auto parts stores.

I don't bend in place; and don't recommend it to anyone... I use a coat hanger to get the bends and make a pattern, then bend the real line using the template.

What about using a braded brake line?
Made up at a hydraulic shop.
Save you some time and gref.
But as long as you take your time you sould be able to do it.
I have done some brake lines before.
Just takes time.

It's expensive, and although stiffer than rubber, there's still a small amount of flex compared to a solid brake line. The most ideal system would be a solid line all the way to the caliper, but since things are moving around on the business end, that's not possible... ;)
