Cobalt SS is a really fun and cool car.


BTW, I'm told by a good source that the ECM programming restricts engine power. The very same engine, with less conservative ECM gets 245 hp.

Why? Powertrain hasn't yet certified it's durability at that power level.

Doesn't an SRT-4 have 230hp. If I was a kid with a Cobalt SS I'd want the bragging rights. I forgot if it makes sense do the opposite. :rolleyes:

OMG look at that torque curve!!! it's hardly even below peak level at redline! at that rate, the HP still has plenty of room to GROW for another 500rpm before even starting to slightly drop off. If that Ecotec could reliably rev to about 8 grand it would be unstoppable. It's almost scary how much untapped potential there is there. I can't even imagine how things would look with a good turbo setup.

IF (big if) GM were inclined to go after the EVO/WRX market they could hit like a huge meteor. an entrance worthy of the world's #1 automaker. Then again.... forget it, I'm going to hold the cynicism this time.

This car is looking to be my new daily driver more and more everyday , hmmmmmm . Nice stock #'s , even nicer un-stock potential :D If they eeeeeeeeever get to northern Indiana I will have to go drive one .

I find it funny how the one guy in that thread states how torque and HP should always be equal at 5252 RPMs then the guy "Tiny" chimes in thinking he knows what he's talking about and says "No, that depends ont he car :lol: " - what a tool.

At any rate, i'm liking this cobalt SS more and more every day as a daily driver. It will be on my shopping list when i finish up school and am int he market for a new car.

My QA inspecter routinely asks me if my parts are ok , Im like uhhhhhhh :D :D

I can't wait to get my SS. Oh the fun we'll have this summer :cool:
