There are several. It depends on what you mean by "out there".

The ones with Displacement on Demand dont count either....
Why not?

Why does DOD matter, unless you are purposely excluding Chrysler?

Corvette, CTS-V, STS & STS-V, SSR (sort of a car... sort of a truck...).

Lincoln Towncar, Mercury Grand Marquis, Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang, Ford GT.

Chrysler 300 series, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, Dodge Viper, Chrysler Crossfire (No V8 Though)

Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac CTS/V, Cadillac STS/V, Cadillac XLR/V, Pontiac GTO.

I think thats a pretty definitive list of American RWD cars.

You forgot the Lincoln LS V8, which is objectively very close to a Cadillac STS (a bit smaller and lighter and less powerful). It's too bad that it languishes.

Gah. I always forget that car.

Erm... I'm trying to figure out what "objectively close" means.

Those two cars aren't even on the same PLANET as each other in any way I can think of right now.

Premium V8 RWD sport luxury sedans. You can get more electronic/tech features on the STS, but a $50K STS is equipped much like a $47K LS. They are very close in size and weight. Think of it this way. There is not really a lot of difference between an S-type Jaguar and the LS, and the S-type and STS have both been in the same comparison tests.

Lincoln LS is actually a very good car.

I drove one on a trip from San Diego to Phoenix and back year before last when my Z ripped up a clutch. It's handling was shockingly good, it had far more power than I thought, and it was extremely tossable. It never missed a beat (except it's speed governer  ).

Shame you can't fit a DOHC Ford engine in these things. The older Cobra engine in these things (or even a good 4 cam Lincoln Mark VIII engine) would probally make these things scream. :D

Having now driven both, a V8 RWD STS and an LS8, they ain't even CLOSE to comparable.

Just my opinion. That and a quarter will get ya a cup of coffee.

So now you're evaluating your opinion as $2.00? :)

Its not that the $ valves don't fit, its that they don't fit very well, Guy.
I think we've had the discussion before. McLaren LSE vs. CTS-v (which I mya give to the V) or LS with the DOHC 4.6 out of the 03/04 Cobras. Itd be nose heavy, but it damn sure would fly...

I think the 3valve out of the new Mustang GT would be a great engine for the LS. It's probably quite a bit cheaper than the 3.9l also. Optional would be to optimize it for premium, but to use the extra compression to add torque and increase fuel economy to avoid gas guzzler status. I don't know if that's feasible, but a 300/330 4.6l 3V should make the LS quite competitive with the STS or GS430 from an engine standpoint.

It doesn't seem likely to happen, though. Instead, I'm betting they'll quietly kill the current one and add a FWD/AWD S80 clone with a 3.5 in a couple of years, leaving RWD to the current (as opposed to former) luxury brands and Chrysler, and maybe Pontiac or Buick if GM has the money.

I think the LX based cars that DCX are a helluva bargain. MDS, luxury features at sub 40K prices, what's not to like. Not to mention you can tell your friends that it has a Hemi!

Yeah... I probably should have said:

"That and a quarter will get you $.25..."

But, inflation effects everything... you oughta see what my employer pays every year for my silly opinions.
