Who do you think would win? He is all stock. My lt1 has what is listed below. We are both auto's. I have heard about some ls1's running 14.8 in the 1/4 mile.

Just because a crappy driver once got a 14.8 in an LS1, does not mean it is average, or will ever happen again. You will get utterly destroyed after going through a gear with him.

whats the difference? he make 305 horses.

he'd win :) I put down the numbers in my sig and i'm dead even with my friends 98 a4 ls1 Z still about 80 then he just starts pulling away. *his car was stock*

Considering that the 00+ normally make more power then the 98 and 99's Normally.. atleast.

isn't the trans am heavier?

what do you run in the quarter?

They are rated at 305, but they have about 345. They are underrated big time. They run mid 13's stock all day. Trust me, he will blow your doors off. Your 2.73s are gonna make that situation worse.

what if I get 3.73's and headers?

JBird33

That would be a good race, very driver dependant, but he would most likely still pull you once it got past about 75 MPH...LS1s are just plain deadly up top. I'd still put my money on him after those mods. They dyno around 310-320 RWHP bone stock man; that's alot of ground for us LT1 guys to catch up with.

ok, Mine has the stage 1 slp suspension, would that help? And a cam?

JBird33

If you do all that other stuff, and a cam, yes you should be able to win. You should really go over to LT1 tech and do some reading, I think you could learn alot. This kinda stuff is discussed all day long over there, power numbers, estimated times, etc.

Me? I've never ran in the 1/4 but with those 1/8 mile times it should be around a 13.8 range.

i would say with headers and 4.11's it would be a good race since that will gain you alot in the top end. but since its a a4 3.73's are normally suggested.

Pretty much what Jbird said. You'll need at least headers to compete with a LS1.

I'm pretty sure 3.73s would to better on the top end than 4.11s but either would be a huge improvement on the crap 2.73s

Your gonna get yanked hard Id say around 60-70

he will win pretty easily against you. you have CAI and a CB which is not nearly close enough to take him. and as others have said the 2.73's dont help you win the battle. but race and find out.......

I think some ls1 autos also came with 2.73 gears ? Not sure though.I have a m6 ls1 and auto lt1.
Buddies 3.23 auto with minor mods no headers ,no cam ,no heads no stall gets a best of 13.8 with a 2.0 60ft on worn out drag tries. Most stock ls1 at our track are pretty close to that number. But the 13.8 is about 13.5 corrected for altitude. Now my lt1 verts best was 14.3 at 96mph so far with a 2.18 on nittos on a very unprepped slick track.Buddy with m6 ls1 raced me with all bolt ons and headers. He did run a 14.2 to my 14.4 one pass but later in the night he got I think it was a 13.4 again corrected that would be 13.1.
But that was an m6 car on pure street tires best 60 for him I think was 2.3.

I think the ls1 would only win by a few car lengths personally and if you put on headers it should be very close and 3.73s or even 3.42.The 3.42 are a nice all around gear and pretty happy with them. They even make street tires pretty useless and think when combine them with my new 2800 vig that have waiting for install I will have zero problem smoking the stock tires for a hundred feet at will.
You want to catch his ls1 headers and stall or nitrous ,nitrous would give you a big league right off the bat.
Its funny.I raced buddies stock lt1 with my stock ls1 and I left him so bad when we raced he thought I had nitrous.Highway pulls were not even funny from say 50 mph up.Again my car was an m6 though.

And you are right tas are several hundred pounds heavier than your z28.Buddies car is like 3400 think my ta is 3500 approx stock and my vert is also heavy car 3615 with full tank of fuel me out.

LS1 will win...

you need to get some LT's and get rid of that worthless Y-pipe, get a PCm tune (madz28.com) and you will be right there

With my mods listed below, Before the TC install i raced a friend that has a 95 M6 With 4:10's and a Borla(i think) catback! and i spanked him silly time after time, and ive done it with 87 octane in the tank!! By the time i shifted to second he was at my back bumper then he was GONE!!!

PS i only have 3:23's!

I've raced my buddy Ws6 (auto) in my 95 z28 with mods below a few times, from a 25 roll, i have a little advatage here since i have a stick but he's a little bit behind my back bumper until we hit about 90 and he floats on by, i think if i didnt have a bad studdering problem i could hold him off a little longer and the mac headers will be going on soon :P

Like said above get you some headers and a madz28 tune and i think you'll take a stock ls1. Ls1's have crazy top end so watch out.

im not saying that this did not happen, however, i must wonder how a CB and CAI along with a tune accounted for nearly 60RWHP or so? because if that WS6(i am assuming '98 and up) would have dyno'd around 305 or more at the wheels..... aside from the above, he should have passed you a bit before 90 even if he is an auto. 25mph is the sweet spot on the auto.......
