JZ 97 SS 1500 04-24-2005, 02:24 PM Congrats to Rick Intrau (BigRick) and the HPE crew for once again showing the world the LT1 is still an awesome motor for boost. I'll let Rick post all the details of his run/setup and combo. But his LT1 clicked off a 8.21@172.XX mph. Car still weighs darn near 3400+ lbs and still on stock style suspension. That was only on 15-16psi of boost....car sounded like a jet....hehe.

Eric Bazan 04-24-2005, 02:30 PM Any video? That car rocks!

MEAN LT1 04-24-2005, 02:41 PM Drop some weight and spray that B*tch, I want to see Ricks car ahead of the Wheel to wheel Race car. LS-what? ;)
JZ 97 SS 1500 04-24-2005, 08:12 PM Rick said they are barely pushing the car. They think 7.7's@180+ plus are possible with the LT1 block and current setup. Thats simply amazing for a production block.

526 SS 96 04-27-2005, 06:50 PM Was that block filled?
Frans96SS 04-27-2005, 11:05 PM Was that block filled?
yeah its filled
ayalam 04-28-2005, 01:42 AM don't laugh but what do u guys mean is the block "filled" im assuming some liquid metal was poured into the block somewhere but where.
Fast Caddie 04-28-2005, 02:59 AM Hardening compound (not sure of the chemical nature of it) is poured into the coolant passages in the lower end of the block... usually just up to the freeze plugs. The compound hardens (VERY hard) and bonds with the walls of the passages... the reason for it is to make the lower end of the block more rigid. Common term for it is "filled". This usually isn't necessary with aftermarket blocks since they have so much more material cast into them. In OEM blocks it's necessary when you start to push a lot of power (1000+ in the LT1's case, which the block itself is pretty damn strong to start with).
75 outlaw LT 04-28-2005, 06:06 AM I was there sporting my white YearOne shirt. That black car was amazing. And you could hear that turbo a mile away!
neil350 04-28-2005, 11:14 AM Rick's car is awesome, its come a long way from a mid 130MPH street car with a 383 on dope hustling to a bad ass carbed n20 set up to what it is now. See rick, arent you glad you finished it. I remember talking to him back in July, no one believed rully how fast the car would go. No one thought it could ever break 7s, no one thought it would hold together, when it put down the first dynos I remember a lot of the "hard core" Lt1 guys saying their just dyno numbers, then the car take the number 1 LT1 spot, now its going to take the number 1 production block stock suspension spot. Only a matter of time, I wonder where all the guys are that ran their mouths saying it wouldnt happen. OH well, bad ass car Rick, glad you stuck through it, I know it was tough building the car after you just finished the 396 dope set up.
Neil
DavesLT1 04-28-2005, 03:32 PM   bad ass car there, wish I had the budget for that.

It's called using a really big turbo that push's a LOT of air. 16 lbs of boost from a race turbo is not at all close to the same as 16 lbs of boost from a street turbo.
slp223 05-01-2005, 02:40 AM think of it like a water house filling a swimming pool first you have a garden hose and let it run into the pool then put you finger over it. when you put your finger over it is sprays real hard but you are not getting any more water in the pool. now take a big fire house and let it fill the pool with out you finger over it the pressure will be a lot lower yet more volume of water is coming out. psi is pressure but it is not volume. the big hose can move more volume of water at a lower pressure. same goes for a big turbo.
AdioSS 05-01-2005, 02:42 AM Very freakin cool! The new front end is awesome looking. What was the sixty foot time? Congrats Rick and the HPE bunch. When will we see 7s? :D
they ran a 8.08 @ 172 1.25 60' last week

~150k, give or take 25 grand.
Jason Short asked Ronnie Duke how much he had into his ride and he told us "about 250."
