04 GTO vs. 05 GT

Coming home from the lake last night I noticed a Black 05 GT a few cars back (single lane rd). A few min. later the road became 2 lanes and the GT hammered it as soon as the road widened, passing the 3 cars between us. He got beside me and dropped a gear. We were doing about 30-35 and I was in 2nd waiting on him to come up. As soon as he dropped the gear, he floored it, as did I. From 35-60 or so we stayed exactly as we started, with me in front by about 2 feet. By 70 or so, I started inching on him ever so slightly and by 100 he was at my bumper. At that point I shut down because we were getting to a busy area. He kept going, but stuck his thumb out. I flashed him and that was the end of it. Best race I've had in the GTO (only the 2nd, the first was also with an 05 coincidentally). The mustang really impressed me !(although I still don't like it's looks:)) I was really pissed at myself though cause I had debated whether or not to open my bottle for the ride home. I wish I had!

Yes there very impressive, w/ the right driver its a damn good race (as you obviously saw)..They seem to get outta the hole real nice to, good runs. You should have sprayed his ass and sent him home crying :D ...btw why zex?

Yeah, he suprised me. Pretty sure he was stock too. I'm gonna have to get some mods once these things really hit the streets.

I had to use my Summit credit card cause I was broke and Zex was the only wet kit they had for the LS1 at the time, so I didn't have much choice....however, after getting the kit I must say I'm very impressed with it. The install was a breeze and the kit works flawlessly. Much better than the NOS kit I had on my Supra.

JasonYea I just heard the other kits were better but your reasoning makes alot of sence. Hmm, planning on getting something soon, summit credit card sounds like a damn good idea :D ...whats your limit btw? Might have to put a blower on there :D

Nice Kill.......I love those new GT's. I dont, however, like the idea of the market flooding with them. It takes away the car's jewel like look because of it becoming so common.

Sweet kill on the new GT. Nice to see the the GTO holding up. I think the guy would have took his car back to the lot if you opened up a bottle on him :D Glad I saw this thread, now I know about where I stand against a 05 GT.

Did you seriously assume they would be uncommon?!?!?!
Since when was a Mustang an uncommon site?
Saleen, Roush type cars, maybe... but the basic plain Jane V6 and GT?
Its a Mustang for cryin' out loud... it is going to sell...

I recall only two F-Body Commercials:
One where the lady passes a trucker in a Camaro, and one where a T/A is waiting at a stop light and light explodes, and the T/A races under it before it hits the ground...

Good Kill. What are you running in the 1/4? I've yet to see one of these thing run at the track. I killed one several times a while back on the hwy but we never evenly lined up. I'd wait then run him down after he tried to flyby me, 1-2 car head starts. It took me to 110+ to get past him every time from 75. I was impressed given that my car isn't stock.

No I never assumed that. Was it hard to understand? Im saying its a shame that it does. Its what happened with all mustangs and will continue to happen. Nowhere in my paragraph did it say " Mustangs of the past wherent a common sight" and never refered such a thing either.
But As much as I love the new ones Im thinking they are going to get old looking quick as did the past ones" specially the 90's models" due to the market flooding with them.

Right good idea, keep mustang production low for exclusivity so Ford has to jack up the price per unit on a base V8 car to make some money.

I think Zex gets a bad rap cause it's associated with ricers sometimes (around here anyway), but it's made by Competition cams whose pretty respectable. I love the kit. However, I haven't dyno'd to see if it's making the hp it's supposed to.

Summit limit is $1k for me...depends on your credit I guess. You can apply online and get an instant answer.

LOL. I saw that when I typed it. It's not how it sounds though. I own a couple retail stores here in town and my income fluctuates with the holidays. I ordered the kit before Valentines and paid it off 2 weeks later. Why wait when you got 90 days same as cash and you know the money's coming soon?:)

I've never been to the track. Just got the car in January. Plus, they're not the greatest drag cars as they're prone to wheel hop and the launch is kind of abusive to the drive shaft and rear axles. From what I've seen around the net they're a mid to high 13 sec. car at around 103-105 mph.

Tell me about it! I hear the only one worth a sh*t is the nitrous express one which is in the mid $200's. Gotta wait a couple weeks for that one cause I just filled the summit card back up with suspension goodies. I just installed a purge valve though, so once I get the rbv I'm set. Can't wait...

Has any one else notices the 05 gt's have 3.55 gears and still a 5 speed where as the 04 gt had 3.27's and a 5 speed.......theyre quick out of the hole cuz of the gears...thats why their tops speed is also barely over 140...just my $.02

I have a ZEX kit too, currently setup as a 100 dry shot. Bought it a couple years back for less than $500 and it came with an inline fuel pump at that price. What a great bang for the buck. The kit was easy to install to, I documented the install :D http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/Shores/1951/zex.htm

Right good idea, keep mustang production low for exclusivity so Ford has to jack up the price per unit on a base V8 car to make some money.Another smart ass in the group. Look, smart ass, I know exactly what the cause-effect is of a lesser production Mustang. I was just saying" Its to bad" Not saying what they should do just saying " ITS TO BAD"..did you read that one? Should I space it out so you can better understand it.
Im sick of all the Jerk-offs on here twisting things and beings asses over nothing. If you re-read it you wont find one thing in the entire article saying " Make less"..Jezzzus!!!!!!!
