Sat in a Buick LaCross today

Very comfy car, and the styling is really pretty up to date for an american car. I didn't get a chance to drive it because I randomly asked some 80 year old guy to sit in his car. Luckily he let me, and didn't call the cops.

Anyone else been in one and found it comfortable? I know everyone thinks they are underpowered, and I can't comment on that obviously but the overall interior setup seemed pretty good to me.

Re: Sat in a Buick LaCross today

a review i did for another board.

Buick Lacrosse/Allure CXS

i picked this one as its one of the newest GM cars. First impression was exellent, build quality was top notch unlike the G6. Performace was good as it had the 3.6 dohc vvt/auto combo, very smooth and responsive. transmission was good, shifts were smooth and quick. Steering was nice ,had decent feedback unlike older buicks, also was firm but not heavy really really nice.Chassis rigidity was better but i did feel a small shudder under big impacts (huge pot holes). Suspension was semi firm, very comfortable. all in all a very good car considering its only 1k more than a comparable G6.

8/10

Edit: i forgot to mention that this thing was quiet, you can't tell it was running even with the radio off. i was impressed.

LaCrosse is on my wife's short list of cars to replace her 04 GP GTP when the lease is up in a year and a half or so............

Interesting being that she is 27 years old.

Yeah, it really doesn't look like a Buick as they exist in my mind as a 21 year old. If only people under the age of 80 buy, maybe they could sell a few of them.

I think the LeCrosse is well put together, and the quality of materials is as good as anything in it's price range from Japanese makers.

But I still think it looks like a Taurus made by Lexus, though.

Did the 3.6 have any of the tip-in throttle lag that is annoying the crap out of CTS owners?

I have to agree.... however, when I see the new Lexus GS, I think "Buick LaCrosse that uses more edges"...

It has a very similar styling theme, except it uses rectanges, where Buick uses Ovals.

That is starting to become a little more prevelent in all makes , some more , some less than others .....as Drive-by-wire throttle bodies are replacing the ol' cable .

Uhm, I'm not sure what G6 you reviewed, but the build quality on all the ones that have come through the dealership here have been top notch. A solid feel to the doors, miniscule panel gaps and quality materials. There are certain complaints about the G6 that are valid, but IMO build quality definitely is NOT one of them...

Lightbulb Re: Sat in a Buick LaCross today

I hear people in this forum from time to time either implying or flat out stating that Lexus has copied the Lacrosse with its current-gen GS. I also hear the same thing about them copying Nissan. Go look at the 1998 model year Lexus GS (or just look at the 99 in my sig) and then go look at this new LaCrosse and the 2002 Altima and tell me which manufacturer debuted those styling cues that everyone seems to think Lexus has copied?

Also, FWIW... Buick intended the Lacrosse to compete with Lexus' entry-level model: the ES330, right? You guys keep saying the interior is on par with Lexus. Well, the ES330 is getting a ground-up redesign here in less than 2 years, but none the less, we'll compare current to current and I still think Buick is faaaar shy of the mark when it comes to materials used and interior asthetics.

Do you honestly even see a comparison here?
ES330 (side note: real wood, leather wrapped door grabs, optitron LED gauges)
ES330
Buick uses flash for its photo gallery, so you'll have to look up comparable shots here:

i test drove a G6 GT and it has horrible. Things didn't line up, parts not sucure(loose), part line showing(center console). Steering had no feel. Bland dark grey plastic everywhere, i can go on and on.The only two things i liked was the styling and the rear legroom.

Here you can compare side by side, features.

Do you honestly even see a comparison here?
Yeah, in features, if the Lexus uses those materials, I can see why it costs over $10,000 more. Also I believe, Lexus being Toyota's "Cadillac" line, comparing an entry level Cadillac would be more appropriate.

I'd buy the LaCrosse personally, feature for feature, dollar for dollar.
