*GRRRRRRRRR* CSI install Q?

So. Just like last September, I'm finally ready to turn the car over. I'm filling it with water and I hear dripping.

After investigating it appears that it is leaking from the weep hole. I put my finger on the hole and that appeared to stop it leaking.

I bought a polished water housing and CSI pump. However, the first time I did not recognize that the hole in the back about 1 1/8 diamter - needed to be plugged.

I took the front end apart and bought a neoprene expandeable plug which worked great.

So the question is, do you need to plug the weep hole as well? (I'm going to f' in scream)

no, you shouldn't have to. the pump should cover it from the inside.. dunno about the CSI . never installed one myself .. but u have to grind ears off of it ...

I just managed to plug it with RTV.

So, although the battery is charged it seems to struggle. Meaning the window goes up and down very slowly etc.

I tried to turn the car over but nothing. Not even the solenoid so I assume I have a ground problem. :(


And so the problem solving begins. :(

honestly, if you had to plug up the weep hole with rtv .. you may need to have a look at how you installed your pump on the housing .. I highly doubt the rtv is gonna last u a long time...

as for the starter, it could be the solenoid itself .. but if u have other electrical problems .. well then .. I can't say anything from here .. gotta tinker with it

I believe the problem could be that the plug is not pushed in far enough. The plug has to be pushed in past the weep hole. In other words the plug will not allow the coolant to reach the weep hole. Make sure you installed the plug with the flange out meaning it is an indent and not a bulge.
Using rtv sealant to block a leaking weep hole is recipe for disaster.
Let us know when you're going to fire it up. I'm going through F-Body withdrawl. :cry:

Second, the plug is supplied with the CSI and it installed with the cup section facing towards the front and is installed from the front of the pump not the back.

When installed, it covers the section before water can get into the weep hole, it it's not leaking in the back of the pplug say you installed if form the back in error, just shuw a small pin into the wheep hole and it'll be fine.

I did not get a plug included when i bought this. I had some freeze plugs but had a tough time getting them jammed in. i went with an expandable neoprene plug which worked well except, as Matt and Shawn said, it did not cover the weep hole.

As Payam (and Cory PM'ed me) mentioned, the RTV is not going to be a solution either (of course, *slaps forehead*) but for the moment it proved the weep hole is the problem. I'll have to plug the weep hole with something better but its impossible to reach with the blower pulley etc. I'll do something to plug it better.

then then is the issue of finding the gropund problem for the starter. :roll eyes:

Oops! I had it backwards there. I forgot that it was inserted from the inside. That means that the plug might be pushed too far then.

Is it possible to get the correct plug from CSI???

its worth a shot csi may be able to mail you out a new one. you can claim it never came with one. i think your car hates twin intercoolers and large blower up front and wants a STS Kit, LOL
