LittleRedZ 04-18-2005, 09:28 AM 1/8 mile that is
Well i officially hate t56
And supercharger hoses, cuz they keep blowing off in every joint you can think of. I fix one, another one blows off.
Heres a only somewhat clean pass i got
came out of the hole hooked pretty well babying still, hit 3k and blew the tires off  , got back in it:
1.83 60ft
6.9@109.1mph 1/8 (not bad on a 10bolt with 3.23s and completly bone stock suspension on 275/50/15 bfgs) :)
top of third the supercharger intake tube came off  , at about 6300rpm, so i decided to shift and stay in it on the motor. Cannot for a life of me find 4th gear in this car, missed 2 times once again and got it in the 3rd time
11.06@113mph
I decided to give the car a rest and retire the 10 bolt along with the 6speed
GhostZ 04-18-2005, 10:40 AM Very nice!
RBE17 04-18-2005, 10:54 AM Nice times!!!
Get yourself some t-bolt hose clamps instead of the worm gear style clamps. They'll hold the boost.
Later,
Steve.
JZ 97 SS 1500 04-18-2005, 01:21 PM How much boost was that on?? Nice mph in the 1/8th indeed.
Jose
1-bad-z28 04-18-2005, 02:05 PM that is excellent trap speed in the 1/8th (and ET). What happened in the 1/4? You only gained 4mph. Was it the hose coming off? Nice times though

Jose,
I belive i'm seeing somwhere in the neighborhood of 16psi on the gauge when on the dyno, Cannot look at the boost gauge/tach/track and shift at the same time :D
But still I have my mind made up for this winter build up man, I will call you sooner or later, anyway to fit a t88 on gen 2 yet? ;)

if you read the first post i mentioned hose coming off close to the end of 3rd, gears are very long with t56, so at around 6200rpm i felt lost power automaticly pulled 4th and stayed in it, but missed at least twice. when i finnally got it in............ :o you get the point
Bayer-Z28 04-18-2005, 02:52 PM Not find fourth? Elaborate....bad 3-4 syncro?
DAYUM, 383 SC'd W/ a ten bolt??? Lucky you! Nice #'s too!
BlownF1 04-18-2005, 04:19 PM Here's a source for t-bolt clamps if you need one: t-bolt clamps (www.hightempsilicone.com)
They have much better pricing than my local suppliers.

I'm not sure only few passes on this set up, still nervous about the rear so i guess my consentration goes to not breaking the rear instead of shifting right :o Just the point that i'm 50-80 miles away from home and if i brake i would need a tow that will cost me 200 bucks
The trans was rebuild prior the build up, it has D&D cevlar synchro kit, brand new 2-3 synchro, the other synchro teeth were just fliped over and the original side teeth didnt look that bad. Also a steel 3-4 fork, i think whats happening is the Twin Disk is getting a little too hot 1-2-3 gears and at the point where it wont let me shift to 4th, not sure and dont really care since i only have 9 passes out of which i only made 2 full out 1/4 mile. and 3 were blowing off hoses right in 1st gear. the others were 1/8 mile. and hit the brakes hard. This trans/clutch will be for sale shortly i want th400 with tbrake so i can leave on boost :D
oh yeah did i forget to mention 12bolt with a spool and a baby 75 shot on top ;)

Holy F*K! 75 Shot too!? Or is that going in w/ the trans/stall?? Well, I do say the auto and a stall would be nice to leave w/ boost. It'll def. shorten your 1/8 times! Sounds like fun! Auto's make better 1/4 times anyway, quicker shifts. I have probs w/ standard launches...I might just be afraid to break something...
But the syncros, 2-3 fork??? I'm not sure of the inners of a t56, but I've allways thought it went 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and reverse was sepperate?? I could be wrong...Learn me! Three rails. Each, xcept reverse, share two gears...
HA!, 200th post, didn't even notice. time for a beer!

the baby shot is going on after the trans/rear want to see what i can do on boost only first, i think you right about the synchros, i watched my buddy do it, rebuilding t56s is his hobby. so i think you are right 3-4 is a brand new synchro. and 3-4 steel fork.
engineermike 04-18-2005, 11:29 PM If it makes you feel any better, I've run 10.40 at 132 on a 1.52 60' time with my 10 bolt. And that was before the turbo (old T trim setup). I'm sure others have gone faster, but I'm shooting for 9's with the 10 bolt.

Intimidator1997 04-18-2005, 11:32 PM Did either of you have a rear end girdle on those 10 bolts for strength? Just curious.......I just bought one but haven't installed it yet.
engineermike 04-18-2005, 11:37 PM I don't have one, but the engineer in me says that the girdle will definitely make it more durable, especially if you get he main stud kit with it.
The size difference in the gears between a 7.5" and a 12 bolt isn't that much, which makes me believe that the stiffness of the 12 bolt housing makes a bigger difference. So. . . if you stiffen up the 7.5", it'll get stronger.
will62085 04-18-2005, 11:43 PM the 12 bolt gear itself is a good bit bigger, which allows for a thicker tooth on the gears themselves...which of course makes it stronger...i ran a 4.10 10 bolt on 315 nittos for a while, hard launches and never had problems, i also had the TA stud girdle...im guessing it helped seeing as my freind blew his 10 bolt up on 275 nittos without the girdle
Intimidator1997 04-19-2005, 12:33 AM Do you think my stock 10 bolt w/stud girdle would hold up with some drag radials on it? Or would it just rip my tranny and or torque arm mounts? Car is a 97 SS with fully forged/procharged LT1 with 14# of boost. Hasn't been dynoed but should be close to 600rwhp.
engineermike 04-19-2005, 07:30 AM As I stated in my earlier post, I've had good luck down to 1.5X 60' with the stock 10 bolt and an Automatic. Boost level and hp doesn't really matter as much as torque converter / tire / launch method.

dosent make me feel better that you went 10.20s on a 10 bolt you got an auto, i used to have one with a stall and know how you can just slip it and easy into it. If i had an auto on the car i think i could easy into a 9.99 with a simular 60ft but i much rather leave on the Transbrake and boost and i know no 10 bolt will ever survive that.
good times though, good luck with your 10 bolt

I wouldn't say that I just "slip it and easy into it". More of an off-idle try-to-put-the-pedal-through-the-floor type launch. :D You can't really get into the low 1.5's by "easy into it".
With a transbrake or 6 speed I think the 10 bolt won't make it long, just due to the shock loading.

Alvin@pcmforless.com 04-19-2005, 12:59 PM jerk does them in.

IMO, I don't think it would be worth it to do up the 10B..Axles, gears and girdle...
Ii'm going to save my $ for a good Moser 12B...I'll get a gurdle in the meantime to help the 10B and make it last a little longer..
But, dude, you seem to be doing pertty good w/ it, though...:thumb:
It's kind of like f*n a chk w/ an STD, sooner or later it'll catch up to you...I got that form somebody's sig....forgot who......not exactly though...
MEAN LT1 04-19-2005, 11:02 PM I wasnt aware you could leave off boost with a cenfrical and a two step?. I thought only turbos could do that.
