I have the Excelons and theyre alright, theyre not amped though. Im hoping that an amp will help the midbass alot. Depends on what kind of music your listening to, for some reaon pink floyd sounds really good but if i listen to something newer like 30 seconds to mars or soemthing the bass gets really distorted at higher volumes. I would go listen to the both of them if you can. If u do end up gettin the excelons i would deff get an amp, they max out at 45watts so get a littel 50watt and you should be good.

It really depends on which speakers you're talking about.

I think Kenwood makes some of the best electronics in the business (HU's, amps, etc.). But personally I find their speakers to be lacking.

Between the Infinity Kappas and Infinity Refernce Series I like the Reference speakers better because the tweeter in the Kappas is just TOO hot for my tastes. Infinity's don't seem to handle loud mid-bass very well either. Thats why I recently went from the Reference Series to the Boston Acoustics Rally Series.

I put all Kappa's into my T/A and LOVE them. Best speakers I've ever owned.

Oh so I'm not the only one. I have Kappa Components running off a premier amp. Very nice. Every excelon speaker or kenwood speaker for that matter has sounded like crap while everything infinity makes is close to gold in my opinion. The subs sound good though. Go with the Kappas.

I had 4 kappa 62i coaxials in my old 95 camaro powered off of an Alpine 40x4W amp...

Those are some of the best speakers I have ever had. I personally think they sound much better than my Alpine Type R 6.5 coaxials I have now as rear fill in my 99SS. I always wondered how good the kappa components sounded.

They were clear and loud. :D

I tend to stay away from any speaker manfacturer that also makes radios. Ex. Kenwood, Alpine, Sony etc. They all make good radios but I like companys that specialize in speakers. Infinity, Image Dynamics, Jl Audio, etc. So out of those two choices I would take the Infinity. And we sell both in our store. There are also way to get great undistorted midbass out of your car. I took the front speaker and made fiberglass enclosures out of the factory speaker brackets then I used a dynamat extreem speaker kit and mounted they speaker through it. In the rear I used the extreem kit and stuffed the panel with pollyfill. My amp is an Xtant 403A. I can turn off my woofer and still have great bass from my other speakers. I listened to one speaker with extreem and the other without and I could really hear a difference. Fuller sound better midbass and no pannel resonance. Best $20 I ever spent. I use image dynamics speakers.

personally from what i know, Kenwoods Excelon brand is a tad bit better then the Infinity Kappa series speakers. I mean both are top quality brands, but i believe sound quality wise the excelon brand is superior. I have a full Kenwood Excelon system complete, with tweeters, mids etc and Excelon DB subs, all powered by Excelon amps, and i must say tha system sounds sick. one of my boys has infinity kappa's hooked to xtant amps and i have to admit they dont sound that great (or tha quality that i would expect them to be). Maybe its tha fact that the amps are a diff brand, who knows...:)
