Its kind of hard to explain so Ill do my best. After a couple of minutes of driving I start getting a noise from the rear of my car. It kind of sounds like a babys rattle or something like that but not as high pitched. It happens mostly when im idle at a stop and slows down if i shift to neutral or park. It also sometimes happens in small spurts when I acclerate. Any ideas? Just started to happen so I would love to take care of it ASAP. Thanks.

I had it replaced not a long time ago - would it be safe to say I should bring it back to them and have them look at it?

Depends.

It is hard to diagnose "noises" over the internet because what I might consider a "baby rattle" noise which I connect with a rattling cat, might not actually be what is wrong.

From what I've read, it sounds like the cat. You said that you had your cat replaced before, was it making a noise similar to what you are hearing now?

Call around and talk to some shops. I bet you'll find a couple shops who would ride in the car with you to listen to what the problem is and not charge you. Call the shop you took it to first and see what they have to say.

Good luck with it.

could be the transmission..dunno though. could be cat. thats prob the best guess, my 95 did that...so i took the DA*M cat off knocked the crap out of the busted insides, and put it back on ;)

If it was the transmission what other things could diagnose it? Im still going to call the place where I got the cat replaced at but now im concerned about the trans. Could it just be the transmission fluid needing to be flushed and changed?

if it only happens when its in gear, could possibly bad pinion cus it doenst rotate the driveshaft @ neutral and park... but then again i've seen a mount to the cat from the trans, it could b loose, etc. gl with that

Well it will still makes the noise in park or in neutral but it slows down or isnt as loud. Weird if you ask me.

does it get louder as you take off? go under your car, if you can, and hit the cat to see if it will make kinda the same noice.

Does you car shake any at idle in gear, or anytime?

Sometimes it get quicker right at the beginning of a gear when i accelerate. Illl check the cat like you said. The car has never really "shaked", but it does seem to have some power loss when the noises start.

If you just had the cat replaced it could be the heat shield around it.

I had a rattle sound coming out from my car also. Most people here told me to change my cat so I purchased a high flow cat and the sound was gone. Thank god, that sounds was annoying me and sounded nasty.
