Homemade blackouts, not Testors but real paint
I have used the Testor's stuff a few times on my 3rd brake light, rear reflectors and recently my turnsignals after I lost another blackout but never again. I liked the stuff beacause it was cheap and looked good. The only problem was that there were some spot on the 3rd brake light and the turnsignals that the stuff just didn't look right. So yesterday my buddy brought his black 95 TA and we used some Testors on the 3rd brake light. It was going good until the can ran out. Since the 3rd brake light is only lit when the brake is applied and the actual brake light emits a good bit of light I figures why not try regular black paint or in this case Black Engine Enamel? So with his car as the guinea pig and me saying, "no dude I'm sure it will work", we tried it. The stuff went on easily and no problem sticking well either. After the clear coat we popped the light back in and he hit the break and you couldn't even tell there was anything on it. The red light was shining much better than mine did with the Testors. We then did the turnsignals and the rear reflectors and the outcome was the same. Everywhere light was supposed to be it was and it was almost completly as bright as before. If your looking at going the Testors route and making your own, use Black Engine Enamel instead.
