Pre 99 GT on 10psi vs. 383 LE2 WS.6

Hey guys,

I know the pre 99 GT's are pretty slow out of the factory, and they are popular to throw a blower on. With that said, I had the chance to run one with a vortech kit running 10psi. Frankly it was a bit sad, as I had better than 5 car lengths by about 80mph and was still pulling very hard, so I got out of it. What would such a car run in street trim?

Hard to say without knowing what other mods he had. I'd guess he'd be making about 300 at the wheels, give or take.

Stock engine even blown there nothing spectacular...all the bolt bolt ons and a aftercooler I guess would get them somewhere around 300 rwhp

Ya, definitely nothin special from the factory - can be made to be fast, but it takes some doing.

300whp from a blown 4.6? i was thinkin closer to 375. not to mention there hasnt been any word as to how good of a driver the mustang guy was.

If he had PI heads, cams and Intake he would be closer to 375-400rwhp like a 99+ but without them they were very weak and limited...

kinda comforting, as im still waiting to get my car back with more mods, a guy moved in down the road a bit with a blown 98+ gt. you can hear that thing whine a block away but from talking to him he doesnt have any other mods other than reflash. i was starting to worry about the s/c.

Not a pre 99, horsepower TV just aired there recent 96 GT project, blower, all the bolt ons, and a aftercooler...only put down 300 rwhp

I beat a 98 GT convert running 8 PSI back in North Carolina when I had a messed up engine and tranny. He was not happy to see an AOD LX with no power adder wax his ***. They are really slow unless the swap has been done, one of those engines Ford should have never put in a Mustang.

I saw that also. it made something like 160rwhp in stock trim. And they said that was respectable on the show

no one ever bothers to mention that every other project car they dynoed on that dyno has put down less than steller numbers as well.

theres a guy here that has a procharged 99+ mustang (cant remember the year). he made 450+rwhp. so i would expect 350 or so from a non PI 4.6.

Some are dead on, but on hotter days they do mention that it would dyno better outside of a hot warehouse, plus they use no fan...I remember a few years back they dyno'd a c5 @ 260 rwhp. No way is a 99 up GT dynoing 450 plus rwhp on a stock engine...LS1's just about make that
