Can an amp be hooked up to deck without using RCAs??

i have an alpine CD player with only one preout. i have a 4channel amp pushing the 4 speakers, but due to the single preout i can only splice the RCA and run all speakers as "rears". So basically i cant fade back to front using the deck.

Can the amp be wired differently without using the RCAs, and give me control over all the speakers?

Also if there is a different way, what would produce the best sound quality?

I can be done.. 2 ways, but SQ isn't really going to be great with either.

1st:

Get 2 LOCs (Line output Converters) Wire your HU speaker outs to them, then run RCAs from the LOC to the amps.

2nd:

Get a 4ch amp with "high" level inputs, and wire the speaker leads from the HU to that.

Neither are the ideal way to do it but those are your options with only 1 pre-out.

Sound quality wise, your best bet would be to add a 1/2 DIN EQ with it's own fader control.

You might also check at your local install shop to see if they have a "Dual Amp Balancer". This is simply an outboard fader control. Kenwood used to make them a while back. I don't know if they still do or not.
