Even Mercedes-Benz can have recalls! :D

Yup, it's true.
What goes around comes around....
Big recall tarnishes Mercedes... Electrical problems with 1.3 million cars is the latest blow to carmaker's reputation.

Read, enjoy, and talk amongst ourselves about superior quality from abroad...

How many of you think this will be "front and center" among mainstream media?

I don't expect to see it get any mainstream media coverage.

Doubtful it gets any front page media coverage. But if it was any of the Big 2.5 with a radio switch recall, it'd get front page news on how domestic quality is subpar.

It's been known fact for years now that the European brands have the lowest quality/reliability ratings of the 3 continents (Europe, N/A, Asia). They are at rock bottom.

But the average consumer has too rosy a view of European cars to see them for their faults. I still can't get over the M3's blowing engines and BMW refusing to recall them. There wasn't even much of an outcry from the media. If it was an American company, you just know they'd be crusified and hung on the spot.

You won't hear a peep about it! Cuz those germans make great cars , don't they! To bad we can't build cars like them! I knew I remembered something about the beemer engines, I just don't know or care about m-whatever enough to know the models. Pure junk to me, and the amount of money ppl pay for them things! Fools! And they use the same window felt as GM( the GTO section)too, bastards! Cadillac has some pretty sweet alternatives right now, and more on the way. I never heard of GM engines blowing up without being replaced! Wake up PPL!

No kidding...
hold your breath and see if it makes the NBC Nightly News at 6:30 like EVERY Ford or GM recall does...

Fox News and NBC Nightly seem to LOVE opening their broadcast with a snibbit of "XXXXXX has a recall issues today, stay tuned for the details...".
I absolutely despise that crap.

Back to the one at hand, 1.3 million vehicles ain't no shabby recall.
The last ones with Ford trucks was only a couple hundred thousand units, and it was news for 2 days.

I wonder if the Mercedes owners will get curbside pick-up and delivery of their vehicles for this repair work, and a loaner while it's in the shop?!?!

According to another website, an owner of the Mercedes McLaren SLR mentioned how the Ceramic brakes on his car squeal, and how the owners manual says that it is "normal" . Imagine the stink that would be raised if GM or Ford tried to pass squealing brakes off as normal .

Liberal media bastards! 95 friggin' abu graib stories, and 2 about Danny Pearl. Atleast non of them guys lost their f-in' heads! Very similar sitiation here guys! My GF came home the other day talkin' about GM killing off Buick & Pontiac! And she doesn't follow the news much, so it must have been all over the place. They are friggin' salivating, so they ran with it, and it was pure speculation! In a similar fashion I will be salivating when they fall, and they will. Wasn't NBC the A******s that rigged up the Chevy truck, to explode, and subsequently got sues by GM? Anyone who doesn't realize the elite media giants have an agenda... Take off the blinders man!

Re: Even Mercedes-Benz can have recalls! :D

Mercedes decline in quality is quite sad. They used to be built like a tank, and old models with 200+K miles are quiet common. What's more amazing is how well those old models have held up over the years, a lot of them still feel tight and look great.

If you have ever sat in a last gen S-class vs the new model, there is no doubt in your mind which one is screwed together better. Sure the new one might have more electronic doo-dads, and a swoopier dashboard, but the quailty of the plastics and switchgear is inferior to the old model. For $85,000 you get a door pull that squeaks and gives a little bit when you close the door.

Thumbs up Re: Even Mercedes-Benz can have recalls! :D

I don't think its sad at all. I'm lovin' it. What's sad to me is the general population will never read about it. I mentioned in another thread, my buddy drives a flatbed, and picks them( beemers too same prob.) up on a regular basis with some sort of electrical problems. I guess he was tellin' me the truth...Ah Vindication Ya Gotta Love It!

I don't think thats quite comparable. Once you start paying over 100k for a car you expect to get a piece of ****. Those supercars are toys, nothing more, they are engineered to an ungodly level, have dozens of unproven gadgets in them and hundreds of things screwed with for the sake of performance. Any Lambo or Ferrari owner will tell you the thing is in the shop more than on the road. Nature of the beast.
