hey, my brother has a 92 Grand Am Quad 4 HO with intake, chip, and something called W41? on the engine. hes says they run mid 15's stock and now his runs 14.15. For one i called BS right away that he could stand with my Lightning but he sounds pretty confident in what hes saying. If any of you know about this pontiac engine or encountered on on street or track please tell me about it so i can tell him how much money to give me after i beat him lol.

I think the W41 was the HO version of the Quad-4. It's 180hp, to the best of my recollection (I used to sell Oldsmobiles in '90). I would surely call on the stock times - 16's are probably reasonable. Either way, he doesn't have a chance....

That being said, the Quad 4 was a decent engine for it's day, and with the right upgrades was easily capable of 250hp. The Ecotec is the '05 equivalent, and we know that GM can squeeze some HP out of that little mill.

 

190BHP DOHC 2.3L stock. Yes, they run low 15's stock and can be made to run faster. 13's? Not without a turbo or Nitrous. I doubt it would run below 14.1 NA without considerable weight reduction.

dude i have a 93 grand am...TRUST ME you can kill him hands down.....my car is so slow and i got the W41 found out...it has around 175-180hp...there is no way that grand am can beat a Lightning

I have a 94 gagt with a w41, chip, intake, exhaust, short throw shifter, 3.94 gears, and 225/45/17's and it is no where near a lightning

 

all i have to say is hahahahaahahahahaahahha. he might be more inclined to race a minivan, but i dunno that might be alittle too much for him to handle in all seriousness though he has a snowballs chance in hell of even coming close to you
