i'm going to be working on my engine out of the car and i'd like to replace the bands , clutch pack disc , plates and a shift kit, the trans is ok now. it goes into 3rd a little softer than it should under heavy load, anybody have a list of good clutch disc and shift kit .... i've been looking around but i'd like an opinion from somebody thats actually used this stuff.
it has a little over 40,000 miles if that makes a difference, and should have a little over 400 rwhp with n20

You could add a vacuum modualator, a modified Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, an 8 Borg Warner Hi-Energy clutches for the 3-4 setup. This will help you out on longevity of the 3-4 clutches. There are additional things that can be done when you go into the unit to help strengthen the rest of it.

if it's like any of the other transmissions i've been into , for the most part it should just take removing the valve body ,frt pump and band . pull the input set,and remove the retaining ring for the pressure plates , then replace the plates and disc's... i'm just looking for the plates and disc that are known to work good, it seems all the parts stores say theirs are the best.
it looks like the red eagle disc or the z pack would work fine, are their any upgrades to do to the other packs
