Absolutely NOT. If GM does not have anything competitive to the GT500 when it is available, I will be pruchasing Ford.

I love the GTO, but it's just not the car for me. Assuming GM lengethend the 4th gens life and the 4th gen was still available today with say an Ls2 in place of the Ls1, i'd sooner spend my 32k on a Camaro SS than a GTO.

The closest best thing to a new camaro is a new mustang and i've already got that SVT/Shelby Cobra on my wishlist come summer of 2007. Even then, i doubt a 5th gen will persuade me to trade in the Cobra. My first car was a mustang GT, and from the looks of it...my next car will be a Shelby Mustang. I'll probably buy another camaro in the next 5 years but it is going to be a first gen z28 or SS.

I think the GTO's revised styling will continue to improve past the 05' year (hopefully) but sadly for a muscle car fan it is a very nice car, performs great in every way... but...

GT500 vs GTO? Good question. Asthetics alone make me look at the GT500 and drool. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and wow... thats a good looking car.

If I can get a GTO that looks like the Woodward GTO with at least the LS2 for under $30K then I'm sold.

Shelby GT500 is a nice car, but $40K is too much money for me. For that Cash I'd rather just have a $45K C6 Z51. I don't plan on spending more than $25K-30K on my next car.

I agree. Woodward styling as well. Power wise I agree with the Lingenfelter GTO, but I have the one issue of styling, which to me is how I justify the GT500's impressive price tag. It has the presence the GTO lacks... Again, dont get me wrong the GTO is an awesome car, but the styling even on the 2005 is too bland with the rest of the pontiac line.

Even the Mustang GT just doesnt do it for me, but somehow the GT500 does. The bumper change, the splitter, the stripes. It just does the finishing touches very well. Gotta give ford credit there.

But if I saw the next Camaro, saw production shots, then I would wait depending on if I really liked it. But sadly we still dont have anything on it yet, and I'm still keeping the faith. The 4th gen Camaro sold me in a hearbeat with a crappy 20 year old chassis and suspension and decent build quality. Give me a new technology chassis, more flexibility (perhaps a little more room under the hood) and a top of the line engine all with better build?

And the Camaro would sell to me again. :) I just hate playing the waiting game like we all do...

I’d consider the GTO, But I’d give the Mustang a lot harder look.

GTO would defintely be the vehicle I would get. If the 5th Gen Camaro does not even see the light of day and the GTO survives to stick around, then I will buy my first non chevrolet car. I made up my mind a while back that the GTO would be the car to make me feel better :D

I'd probably hang on to my '95 Z28 until 2010. :D

Heck its paid off; has low miles (52K); and it still looks good and performs adequately well for a 10 year old car.

Of course by 2010 it'll be 15 years old, but then my 67's are nearly 40 years old and they're holding up quite nicely. :D

When the lease is up in 14 months I will probably be eyeing the '06 GTO or a C6 Z06, unless I do get married and buy a house. :cry: At least I will always have the camaro.

As for the GT 500. I like it a lot better than the GT. The looks are far better. But with the limited number being produced I am guessing there will be dealer markups in the $5k-15k range.

If the next gen GTO had more agressive suspension, wider and more agressive summer performance tires (or at least the space to fit 275's at least) , nice serious 4 pot brakes and 13+ rotors, and managed to lose about 100 lbs at least, while still keeping at the $35k mark, I would be actively figuring out how to trade in my Camaro and grab a loan to get one.

Other. I've decided to put money and time into current car than worry about a future car. Besides, it was much more cost effective for me to have a 450 hp engine built than bought!

I said no. If I don't see or here anything official by the time the new cobra is out I am getting a new Cobra.

hopefully by the time my current Camaro bites it I'll be in a Vette anyway. I'm not a big fan of the new GTO and GM HP Mag is saying the next gen of Camaros aren't really going to be sports/muscle cars anyway, they might be putting and Intermediate style body on it. :(

I'd have to agree with that and hope GM can get something to a dealers lot before then but they are making it really difficult to believe anything as of late.

In answer to the question if Pontiac and the GTO are still around, yes I would buy a GTO in a heart beat.

I love the new GTO and I love the new GT500. But...I'd rather have the new Charger SRT-8.

I would consider a new GTO.

However, the GT500 would probaly stay at the top of my shopping list. Like what someone stated earlier, the GT500 has the presence that the GTO lacks. Also, it has the styling edge over the GTO. The GTO has the family resemblance to the rest of the Pontiac lineup. The Mustang, well looks like a
Mustang and doesn't resemble any other Ford model.

If the fifth gen is pushed back past 2008, I'm picking up a used Porsche 911. I'll definitely be looking hard at the GTO though.

Impulse Blue is a very cool color, IMO... and the Blue Leather seating and accents put it over the top... I got sick of looking at Black, gray, or tan on the inside of my car!! :)
