I want to replace my mostly warn 245/50/R16's H rated

I have dunlops which were GREAT, I spent over $500 last time on them, since then I bought snow/all season tires so I only use them in the warmer weather now.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Kumho's (711 & 712) - some love them, some hate them.

If All works out for me I probibly wont have this car a year from now..... I want to sell it with decient tires but since I'm going to be driving it I dont want total crap tires, I want to keep the total under $400 or about if possible:)
Any other recomendations?

nothing wrong with the 712 ecsta supras, but i prefer something different. the best tire for the buck that i ever had was my yokohama avs es100's. they are great, last a while, and get reallly good dry and wet traction. especially wet.

es100's lasting a while? every customer i talk to thats run them say they practically melt off, but do provide great traction and stuff
ive seen them last from the 10-14k range

The 712's are a decent tire for the money. The tread pattern is a bit "ricish" but that's my only gripe with them.

its a directional tire. whats that have to do with 'rice'?

I wasn't referring to directional vs. nondirectional. Compare the tread pattern of a Goodyear Eagle GSC/Goodyear Eagle F1 and the Kumho 712. These are all directional tires.

The GSC was offered on the LT1 cars for years, the Kumho's or similiar are offered on Celicas, Tiburons, etc.... I am generalizing here to make a point.

You are more likely to find a tread pattern that is similiar to the 712's on an import. And you are more likely to find a tread pattern that is similiar to the GSC or F1 on a domestic vehicle.

Of course a tire doesn't care what car it's mounted on, they will all work.

I have the 711's. I like them......but then again I just got them, so I don't know how long they'll last.

i have the 711s on my 10 spoke ss wheels. 255/40/17 and paid $375 shipped to my door. good ol eBay :thumb: they are great tires. i run the 711s on my TA as well 245/50/16 and they were only $325, so for the price you cant beat them and they last a pretty good while. :D

Car I just picked up has the ***-ho ;) tires on it and they do alright I guess. If its the best you can afford then they are good enough, but if you can afford better then get better.

I've got the 712s on my Z28. I like them, not exactly the stickiest tire in the world (you want a good sticky street tire, look at the Kumho MX) but its not bad as far as bang for the buck goes. It's Z Rated and has lasted me a year, with over 30 passes at the track and some pretty decent "spirited" driving. I'd get them again for daily driving tires. Can't beat $78 a tire

They are a great street tire. I've got almost 30,000 miles on mine w/ 1/2 tread left. I've got a set of sticky's for drag racing, so I don't care about the quality of grip. That and I'd rather steer my money towards mods than tires all the time.

Ditto...they are about the same price as the Kumho 712s but I've been hearing some great reviews about these tires. I got a good price on them and will be getting them installed next week so I'll check back with an update.

I've had a few sets of the 711's. I enjoy the tires, they look nice and have pretty decent traction. I've made a set last two years, but that was when I didn't drive it as much. If you drive it every day, then I'd say they should last a year and a half to MAYBE two. I enjoy Kumho's though, they are good quality and where I get them from it's under $400 for all 4 mounted, balanced, and out the door.

I forgot to update:

I bought the 711's 3 weeks ago, I really like them, it was a suprise to me that they were directional too.

So far the car feels really confident in the cornoring and it feels good on the rain so I'm happy. :)

Potenza RE950.

I've had them for going on three years and they are very solid tires. I will be buying these again when my current ones are worn out.
