I saw this on the Fox news site so I thought I'd post it.

WTF?

How about stop investing in overseas brands like Opel or Vauxhall and keep Pontiac and Buick here! and give up Subaru to Toyota...

You realize that people in other countries buy cars as well? There isn't just a market for them in North America.

BTW, I can't remember the last time I posted. I've been busy.

The deal with FHI and GM was about (buzzword warning) synergy. Subaru gets global network, GM gets AWD vehicles, small car research, etc.... Toyota has much of what Subaru has to offer, so I doubt they would be interested.

Interesting, but not totally unexpected.

I'm curious to see what the "new" Chevrolet design theme looks like. If it is similar to either Pontiac or Buick's current theme (or it looks like current Pontic or Buick vehicles could be "modified" to it), that may be a clue as to which one is on the chopping block.

We know it won't be Chevrolet or Cadillac.

I don't mind Vauxhall and Opel. I just wish they hadn't blown $4 billion Fiat and $2 billion on Saab. That would have funded a lot of nice new hardware.

Yeah, Buick should have been gone a LONG time ago. Just saying the word Buick gives a feeling of something old.

Buick has run its course. :(

While the quality is up on their new vechiles, they simply can't compete with Toyota or Honda's great rap(maybe if GM had been producing outstanding vechiles for the past 30 years, it would have an even better rap about its quality).

And their new designs are very uninspired and bland looking. I think style is what will drive people to buy American. We can't build bland and unemotional cars because Honda and Toyota have a much better rap with their quality and reputation.(and generally their products are higher quality).

Buick greatest issue is that it has lost sight of its heritage. It needs RWD, power and style. That has not been the case since the Grand National or maybe the Roadmaster. Buick and Pontiac can still be revived but they need exciting PRODUCT. Not advertising gimmicks and celebrity endorsements.
