I have for sale a 1993 Camaro Z28 with 117,xxx miles and the T56 transmission. I just bought the car a few weeks ago, but for a combination of reasons including lack of time and getting hit with taxes, I'm selling the car.
I bought this car knowing it needed attention. I think it'll be an excellent project for someone looking for one of these cheap. It needs attention on the interior, exterior, and mechanical stuff but does run and drive. I’m going to try to represent this car as accurately as possible; hopefully I don’t make it sound a lot worse than it actually is.
===============================
Aftermarket Stuff:
- 18” Chrome KDC wheels with Nitto 555r tires - $1200
- Magnaflow Catback exhaust system - $500
- Clifford Alarm (Disabled since I don’t have the remote, heard you can get one from a stereo shop for $30 programmed)
- CD player with aftermarket speakers (4 stock and 4 tweeters)
Exterior:
The clear coat is peeling on the rear passenger quarter panel and a little on the passenger door. I'd paint the whole car if it really bugged me that much, but it doesn't. There are also scratches and chips in various places. Most of these imperfections would buff out.
Interior:
The driver’s seat bolster has been sewn closed where it had ripped and the back seats are pretty dirty. There’s a crack in the corner of the dash and the center console hinge is broken.
Mechanical:
There’s a noticeable miss in the engine at low RPM’s. It seems everyone I talk to about it says it’s due to a failing Optispark unit. Just to be sure I changed the sparkplugs and wires, which the previous owner lied to me about and said he did. Above 3000RPM’s the car really comes alive and has loads of power. If I kept the car the opti would be the next thing I'd replace.
The transmission also pops out of reverse. I’ve been told this was due to air in the clutch line and that it needs to be bled, but doubt it’s true. If you hold it in reverse it works fine.
===============================
The car does have a clean title and a clean carfax. I paid cash and have the title in hand, in my name.
I’m pretty sure I’ve listed everything I can think of that is wrong with the car. I don’t want the next owner to be disappointed and I don’t want there to be any surprises, I’m an honest guy. Looking at this list you could say there are quite a few problems but really, they’re all minor except the miss in the engine and the tranny problem, which should be easy to fix. I need $3600.
If I don't get any interest soon I'll ebay it, I'm pretty sure I could get my asking price.
