Those who have installed front Hal shocks with Hal springs inside

How did you install the dust shield/jounce bumper? It wont fit through either end of my Hal springs. The stock spring has a larger diameter opening at the bottom that it will fit through, but the Hal is tapered down so it will fit on the adjuster ring.
