Since he doesn't post here any more......
I'm taking the liberty of quoting him here....I hope he understands...
Interesting information inside....and a scare too!
Interesting information inside....and a scare too!

My retirement.............
As some of you may have seen, I posted a few weeks back concerning my opportunity to take an early retirement with General Motors. It's been a very interesting couple of weeks..........
In the past week, General Motors has received a lot of press concerning their restatement of earnings projected for the coming year.
Quite frankly, it does not surprise me. Even with new products coming to market, the market remains turbulent (and that's an understatement...)
Every month, more and more products from manufacturers worldwide pour into the U.S......so that the consumer has a dizzying array of products to choose from. Coupled with rising fuel costs, our Legacy Costs, and many other factors, General Motors has no choice but to "right size"
(now THERE'S a 21st Century buzzword!)
So....many of us "Old Soldiers" were given the choice of an "early retirement"...or a "buy out".......or some of us could stay.
While I absolultely love what I do, I really needed to think about the future...and my family in Mars......and my priorities....and what I still want to accomplish in my life.
Thus.......
I've made a decision after much thought.
..........I'm stayin!!!
(SOMEONE has to watch over a certain future product, right?....and SOMEONE needs to ensure that Chevrolets are put forth to the public in the 65 major shows, right?)
so........it's going to be a very interesting couple of months starting April 1.
As many of you have heard, Brent Dewar, General Manager of Chevrolet has been promoted to V.P. Level within GM...and that's a good thing. Replacing him is Ed Peper...who had taken Brent's old job when he became GM of Chevy.
Unfortunately I am saying goodbye to a lot of friends..and a lot of talent. One particular person who I really hate to see go is Rick Baldick. Many of you met Rick two years ago at B/G. He was my boss and he was one of the best people I've ever worked for. He understood Camaro and Corvette..and more importantly, understood my passion for Camaro and Firebird and thus allowed me to do a lot of things.
I'll miss him.
Meanwhile........you gotta put up with me for a little longer......

Re: Since he doesn't post here any more......
Now that's some good news. Only thing that puzzles me is the APRIL 1 date.
Now I'm not implying anything but on the internet we've seem some pretty messed up jokes centered around April Fools.
But hey I feel that Chevy is on the right track with the new people in place I hope to have a RWD Chevy coupe in my driveway in 07.

Oh furthermore, Scott if you read this I really hope to shake your hand at the North Texas F-body meet at Hooters in April. I’ll be there for sure, hopefully I’ll have a Camaro again by then too.
Re: Since he doesn't post here any more......
Excellent News.. when I started reading he almost gave me a heart attack (i'm sure he gets the same reaction reading some of our threads here.. or at least used to)...
I'm so glad he decided to stay on.. I am extremely proud of his committment to GM/Chevrolet and Camaro and proves that he can be counted on.
Mr. Settlemire: Thank you for your years of dedicated service and I hope that I have the joy of seeing a Camaro return soon just as you saw one for the first time in your uncle's dealership. I hope that I get a chance to be that happy......
Keep up the great work and let's hope that we are ready for the bumpy road ahead for the next 6-10 months...
