i'm trying to drive an Audiobahn Alum-10" (800 rms) at a reasonable price.

right now i am looking at the Lanzar Vibe series, specifically the Vibe238 and Vibe240, the Power Acoustik Gothic Series (OV2-1200 and OV2-1600), and an Ultimate DT2-800. i have heard good things of Lanzar and decent things of Power Acoustik but i can find nothing on Ultimate. which would you choose? any help would be appreciated. feel free to suggest any other amps <$250ish that would be good. thanks.

whats the coil set up on that sub? if it has dual 4 ohms look for a mono amp, single 4 ohm 2 channel, and so on,,,,,,,,my preferance is phoenix gold, but i do use fosgate just on the subs.haven't really heard of those amps.check your links i'd question there true power output.phoenix puts out true rms power i ran a pair of hx2 10's with a cheap xs2300 and they still put down 128 in a sealed obocon at the sound off. i also have an old fosgate 360a2 on a pair of hx2 10's they put out 136 in a bandpass.maybe i could of got better both times they were tuned for country.anyways i'm either of those amp would be under 250.00

I've been impressed with MTX so far. My 6500D churns out 625 watts RMS at 2 ohms. 404 watts RMS at 4 ohms. It would be more than enough to power your sub, and is fairly inexpensive.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

DO NOT buy Lanzar Vibe amps!!!

A friend of my brother-in-law asked me to install a Lanzar amp he got from Parts Express a while back. We took it out of the box and hooked it up on my test bench and it was DOA. We took it back and got another one and guess what? It was DOA too.

Lanzar used to make some nice equipment a few years ago but evidently they were bought out by another company and their quality hasn't been the same since.

None of the amps you have listed are very good quality wise. I wouldn't recommend any of them. I gotta agree with Lions3 above though. On a dollar per watt basis, MTX is hard to beat. The MTX 6500D lists for $460 at my local Circuit City. I got mine on eBay, brand new and unopened, for $250. You can get some real bargains on eBay. Just be selective on who you buy from.

If you want clean bass power, try a Rockford Fosgate.

You can get an 800a2 for under $250. (That is WAY more power than you need)

If you're talking about Ultimate sound then I'd get them. They look to be kickass amps with a 70% efficiency rating. Look here for a review of the same exact amp you're looking at. I definitely trust these guys with their review. In fact it's my future amp.

One more vote for the ultimate. That's a pretty good price for a class T amp that puts out that much power.

I'll sell you my Phoenix Gold M100 for $250 plus shipping.
It is rated at 500x1 at 4 ohms:)

PG are the only amps I ever run. Never had a problem out of any of them.
