OBD2 to OBD1

i need to change to OBD1 could i just buy a PCM from a OBD1 or what else do i need. i know i need to change the knock sensors. anything else?PCMforless sells a conversion for 275 but if i could just get the seperate parts for cheaper that would be great. If i need other stuff let me know. Thanks.

You just need the PCM and the older knock sensor.

The dealer would not be the best place to get a 94-95 PCM because of the cost. You can get a knock sensor for relatively cheap though probably from autozone or if not then try one of the discount dealers like Dal or Jason. I actually have a couple spare PCMs too that Id be willing to sell if you need one.

The OBD2 cars are sequentially fired, while the OBD1 cars are batch fired (in reference to the injectors). Isn't that true? So, I think there is more than just getting a OBD1 ECM and knock sensors. I dont even have a distributor on my OBD2 car. So, what year ECM/PCMs are you talking about? '96/'97 to '94/'95???

Actually you dont even need to buy a knock sensor, if you know how to solder you can take the PCM apart and solder in a resistor and it will work with you current knock sensor.

Nothing else needs to be changed, its plug and play.

Only 92-93 LT1s were batch fire.

I went to Autozone and found a knock sensor for 51.00 and a new PCM for 120.00 but if i went with a used one could i get it out of a car with an automatic tranny and reprogram it to a manual with tunercat. also i talked to the guys from PCMforless and they said they would send me internal conversion kit. what is that and is it needed.

does anyone have instructions online for doing this. I tried to read my OBDI in my 97 yesterday and it would not read. (not sure if it is the ecm, the laptop, or the cable). The car did start, but it just would not read to the laptop. Could this be caused by the fact that I have not changed the knock sensor or soldered in a resistor?
I would like instructions for the resitor if anyone has them.
