So I want to clean the engine of the f-150 I just picked up. Looks as tho it may have never been cleaned in the 136k miles its been running. So I was thinking pick up some of that engine brite stuff at the auto store, do you think that will do it? I hope so cause this engine is DIRTY. I also have access to a pressure washer.

Get some automotive degreaser, like - Simple Green.
Spray liberally on everything until engine bay is literally dripping in it.
Let sit for 15 minutes.
Preasure wash/or use a hose.

Don't buy engine brite, or any of that gimmicky junk. If the engine is seriously that cruddy, then even the glorious magesty that is Simple Green, won't remove it alone.
Easy Off "fumeless" oven cleaner, and a power washer at the car wash would take care of the majority of the fight. Then, you could use Simple Green for the final round.
