Is the future of the GTO bleak?

There have been rumors of the GTO being cancelled. Are they true? Not decided?

Yeah, that rumor was started here, in the Velite thread. However, a thread at GMinsider news claims that the rumor is bunk. I don't know. People from both sides who've called things are on opposite sides of this story.

Re: Is the future of the GTO bleak?

so.....

"GTO" will be defunt but Monaro is still on, ie, scheduled to be built stateside. Does that mean Pontiac's going to start selling Monaro? This to get away from the mistake of calling the car a "GTO" in the 1st place??? maybe later, if Monaro's a hit, then bring back GTO and Judge? Bear in mind that "SS" moniker is Chevy and Pontiac's GT, GXP, GTO????

EVERYONE didn't trash the guy for sharing info. Where was I in that thread?

I "trashed" him for coming into the thread I made obviously asking for information (check the thread title) and basically saying nothing. I guess he wants to get that post count up.

From what this reads, and pure speculation. Monaro could be a base car, GTO mid range higher power, and maybe GTO Judge higher?

Re: Is the future of the GTO bleak?

From a name perspective, I can't believe GM would want a Camaro and a Monaro. I would be very worried for the Camaro name, if a Monaro name hits the street here. Plus think of John Q Public. "Hey, look Billy its a new Camaro, I wonder why they changed the spelling though?"

Personally, I think Monaro is kind of a crapping sounding name to begin with.
