General Motors and Hyundai were the big stories in terms of improvement for 2004. General Motors vehicles earned the top score in 11 of 19 categories (including ties) after topping only four categories last year. The Cadillac XLR was the highest scoring model in the 2004 survey.

The only thing I didnt really like is that they only interviewed 39,000 people. It didnt seem like a very big sample size...

To validate the seat belt systems dimensionally that save your life in an accident, we check a grand total of...

6 samples.

I'd say this little piece of news is better for the Infiniti brand than for Cadillac.

Besides, in Aerospace, your entire production run is 6 pieces. We do 106,000 assemblies a week in one of our plants.

This survey seems to run counter to most other quality surveys. It's funny that they rate MBenz so highly, when others rank them far lower, but this statement makes me think the entire study is crap:
They must not have asked anyone that I know who owns a VW/Audi product.
Volkswagen remained the highest scoring full-line corporation overall, according to Strategic Vision....
Re: Cadillac XLR = #1 in Total Quality, GM & Hyundai made biggest gain in '04
I thought the same thing when I read the statement about VW. This seems to be more of a "feel good" survey rating the buying and initial ownership experience more than anything else.

Data sizes less than a thousand will give extremely accurate confidence intrevals of the information you seek. 39,000 pieces of data in my opinion is actually too much for a survey such as this. The information you receive with 39,000 is only about twice as good as a sample size of 10,000 yet it takes four times longer to get that data.

HEH.
What a joke after Calc 1,2,3,4, linear algebra and differential equations...
Meanwhile, the nurses-to-be are pulling their hair out trying to come to grips with the idea that the letter "x" is used in place of a number from time to time...
