Please with "check engine" Light and random misfire.keng 03-09-2005, 05:25 AM Hey guys i need your help. I have a 97 Z28 6-speed and I got a check engine light twice now. When we run the codes, it comes up as a random misfire, what can cause this, what can I do to fix it? moparman 03-09-2005, 07:50 AM Did you get code P0300? If it's that, it can be tricky. It could be as simple as a fouled plug or bad wire. Or it could be the opti. Start by checking all plug wires for flaws. You also might look under the hood when it's dark and see if you can spot any arcing. teke184 03-09-2005, 08:07 AM have you noticed any missing? low rpm stumble? high rpm miss? could be plugs/wires as suggested, could be bad coil, opti keng 03-09-2005, 12:55 PM The first time I got the code it did miss and run like a$$, but when I turned the car off adn restarted it ran fine. I guess I might be screwed can has 130k I know I need to chang plugs ans wires, butwith that many miles i guess the opti could be going out. Injuneer 03-09-2005, 01:15 PM -plugs -wires -corroded terminals -coil -IC Module -Opti -dirty injectors The list gets sort of long. If you have access to someone with the "enhanced parameters" version of AutoTap, or a dealer mechanic with a Tech-2, they can check the misfire counts by cylinder to help locate the problem. Suggestion.... add a "signature" so you don't have to type the year of your car in every question. Include trans type and any major mods as well. Helps people answer your questions. keng 03-10-2005, 02:52 PM Thanks for youinfo guys, you are awesome, I will check on all this this weekend, but I noticed it did it when I dropped down to gears and reved it up a bit. | ||
