4DRSS 03-03-2005, 02:25 PM Anyone try these out yet? I really like the idea of a GOOD sticky radial tire since I have to drive 30+ miles to any track.
I will be using either the 275/60/15 or 325/50/15 if I can fit them.
How do these compare to ET Streets or ET Drags? I especially value feedback from someone who has used the radials and also the bias ply tires for a true comparison.
I make 476 RWHP and 521 RWTQ do you think I can hook with the radials?
Spinner 03-03-2005, 04:37 PM I muched prefer them over the ET streets, I find the radials hook a little better, require a much shorter burnout, and consistently trap higher then the et streets.
T/A lt1 03-03-2005, 09:34 PM You ran better 60's with the ET street Radials over regular ET streets? I would like to try a set but don't think they will hook on 200HP n2o which is my next shot on my next outing. LMK
Spinner 03-04-2005, 02:57 AM Um, yes? They're a much better tire.
RBE17 03-04-2005, 11:31 AM Spinner,
Are you running them on the street? I'd like to buy a set as for my street rims, but am curious has to their life. Any info on your experiences is appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve.
RobbyRob 03-04-2005, 11:48 AM These tire are awsome!!! They hook up great.
mongse_1 03-04-2005, 12:50 PM I've got a couple customers who only run them on the street and they love them. They use the same compound as an ET Street (R6 I think), but have the stiffer sidewall of a radial and don't grow nearly as much as a comparably sized bias-ply.
1-bad-z28 03-04-2005, 01:45 PM I saw those at the performance store the other day and was wondering about them. I know wet weather is not very good with DR's, but i'm sure they are better than the et streets. Those things just plain suck in water.

No. Different and unique compound.
RBE17, I dont run them on the street, I cant imagine they'd last too long, they're pretty soft.
86 Iroc HOTROD 03-06-2005, 07:20 PM I just came back from track, I saw several cars run 5.8x's on these.(1/8mi.) I talked to a guy who said they were real close to his slicks, he was pulling 1.3x's 60ft's and standing on the back bumper with the radials. He was running the 325/50/15's. There were several 5-sec cars running them so they must be pretty good.
MysticTeal 95 V6 03-06-2005, 09:06 PM I really like the look of these tires as well... the compound is a little softer than the ET Streets. I wouldn't think they would last too long with regular street driving either. I'd love to try a set of these out on my 17's but I'd hate to have to buy new ones a couple of months down the road. Not to mention, even with my fairly 'built' 10 bolt... I doubt it would hold up very well with these tires running Heads/Cam/Spray :D
marshall93z 03-06-2005, 10:00 PM seen some mustangs standing up it on the bumper today with these tires!!
mongse_1 03-07-2005, 11:53 AM No. Different and unique compound.
RBE17, I dont run them on the street, I cant imagine they'd last too long, they're pretty soft.
My mistake. I thought I saw that they were the same...just checked M/T's site. The compound feels pretty similar to M/T's drag tires.
Wet weather tire? Ahh, no.
Lonnie Pavtis 03-10-2005, 12:45 PM The radial uses the R2 compound which is softer than the M5 on the regular ET Streets. Just got 2 sets last week & initial feedback is excellent.
1BAD-SS 03-10-2005, 12:59 PM I ran 275x60x15-s for the last few months of last season. I ran consistent 1.4xx 60' all day long. Got down to 6.37 at 111. They are great for launching off idle. I couldn't get them to work with the trans-brake. Hopefully, a little more practice and suspension tuning will cure that. I love these tires. Has anyone fit a set of 325's on a fourth-gen yet?
T/A lt1 03-10-2005, 03:02 PM I am trying to fiqure out if I can make the 325/50/15 fit under my car without too much beating. I think I will order aset and just make them work. There is a guy over on lS1tech that put some 28x10.5W's on a 02 Transam so I am sure I couyld make these fit. I will post some pics once I get started. What kind of rear are you running and what gear 1 BADSS?
blksunshine 03-10-2005, 10:12 PM I have run a best of 1.61 sixty on some 275/50 15's, even had the wheels up a lil. Going to try the n2o later this month, hopefully they will hook.
a5150ward 03-12-2005, 03:56 AM These tires are great! I run the 275/50/15 @ 16 psi.
T/A lt1 03-12-2005, 12:24 PM Just ordered my 325/50/15's this week. We will see if they can go 1.4 60's on n2o. Later
maroon94z 03-13-2005, 01:11 PM Wow. I'm just re-reading this thread to make sure I'm not missing something. Currently, I participate in bracket races every weekend, and I carry my real slicks in my car and bolt them on when I get to the track. If I'm reading this right, you guys are saying that these radials will hook as good or nearly as good as real slicks and I can drive short distances on them, like to/from the track (35 mins). That would be awesome if I didn't have to change tires at the track every time. I'm due for some new slicks, but now I'm thinking I might want to go this way. Do you guys foresee me having any problems hooking? I run 1.71 60' 12.6 in the 1/4. The tracks I run at are prepped very well, too.
Bill

They hook just as good . As for driving to the track. As long as its not to far because of the soft compond will ware very quickly. In South Florida we only have Moroso in West Palm beach which for me is 100 miles away. So thats a 200 mile trip there and back. I'm not willing to drive that on them. Plus the speeding ticket I got last night for 90 in a 70. Is just to expensive. S#it !!!
a5150ward 03-13-2005, 11:19 PM I don't daily drive my car but I do make 150 mile round trips to the track. You will have no problem cutting a 1.7 60' with these. Tire wear is a lot better than I expected.
maroon94z 03-13-2005, 11:42 PM Cool. The main track I run at is only 35 miles one way, and I very rarely drive this car anywhere else, so this should be perfect for me. Thanks for the help.

I run 4.10's in a Moser 12-bolt. I am contemplating stepping down to 3.73's for the quarter. I used to run a 315/35/17 street tire on an 11 inch rim. Let me know how and if you get the 325's to work on your car.
Thanks,
Craig
frmula1 03-15-2005, 11:47 PM well i just bought a set of the 26/11.5/16 et streets... and im kinda discouraged that you guys r saying a regular treaded drag radial actually performs better... hows that workin? :(
simple 03-15-2005, 11:53 PM well i just bought a set of the 26/11.5/16 et streets... and im kinda discouraged that you guys r saying a regular treaded drag radial actually performs better... hows that workin? :(
i told you that in the other post before you ordered them :p
frmula1 03-16-2005, 12:00 AM yeah yeah... but my cars stock pretty much... slp intake and an open exhaust... im sure i'll hook just swell...
but i still can't believe treaded radials out perform et streets.... i mean not saying i DON'T believe you guys... its just astonishing to me :)
btw: say i powerbrake it up to 1500... then just flat out floor it... and hook beautifully what kind of 60' should my car get stock?
maroon94z 03-16-2005, 08:25 AM btw: say i powerbrake it up to 1500... then just flat out floor it... and hook beautifully what kind of 60' should my car get stock?
Short answer: 1.9 - 2.0.
Long answer: You'll want to experiment with different launch RPM's. Those ET Streets work fine, I have a set that I run when when Super Chevy comes to town, and they hook fine even late in the day when all the real street tires have torn the track up.
Deenasty 03-16-2005, 12:59 PM im heading out to the track in about 2 hours, and I will be trying out my Et Street Radials also. They are 255/50/16, what should I air them at? 12psi? I know that you gain 4psi after the burnout...
frmula1 03-16-2005, 01:47 PM 1.9-2.0??? for my ws6? that doesn't sound good i can get a 2.0-2.1 60' on crappy street tires... and because of my stock stall i can only brake it up to 1500 or i start burning out
old93z 03-19-2005, 01:09 AM frmula the main thing limiting the 60' with et streets would be stock stall. It will most likely dead hook.
best 60' i got with the stock stall and et streets was a 1.82 on the way to 11.9 at 117 (n20) and about a 1.95 on motor~13.4@102.
frmula1 03-19-2005, 01:45 AM yeah i was anticipating a dead hook with them...
my cars sick so now i don't even know if im gonna get to try em out this weekend... i left the line at 12-1300 on street tires got a 2.05 60' and landed 13.33 at 104.78 full tank of gas, tire, jack, and about 30 lbs worth of crap in my car... im gonna run it at 1/4 tank of fuel or less... and remove all weight i can then leave it at 1500 and try to dent the floorboard.... its also gonna be 20 degrees + cooler than it was last weekend with a decnet humidity.... i think i can make a 12 out of it.... i hope
T/A lt1 03-19-2005, 08:32 PM Well the Et street radials are a real good set of tires. I went out last nite with my brand new 325/50/15's. I only got to make 2 n2o passes before they told me to slow down or leave. My car doesn't have a rollbar so the first pass I left easy then sprayed the n2o once the car was about 20-30' out (1.55 60') and ran 10.42@130.5mph with the 150HP jets. Then I pulled up and left on motor then sprayed about 10' out in the 60' and ran a 1.52 60 (driver tire 8inches off the ground) and 10.31@130.8mph which is the quickest I have run on 150HP n2o.

I just bought a set, let me know how you did

Nice times, How is the tire clearence, much hammering? What rims do you use? any pics?

I shattered the Eaton posi in my 12 bolt sat night with a set of well used et street radials...
blind527 06-09-2005, 06:05 PM What ET Street Radials would you guys recommend with a 17x11 back wheel and 17x9.5 front? Just the ET Street Radials in the back? Which ones?
blksunshine 06-10-2005, 01:15 AM 315/35 on a 17x11
blind527 06-10-2005, 01:32 AM I dont' believe those are the "specs" M/T gives, they give inches ratios with height and width.
4DRSS 06-10-2005, 09:51 AM P275/40R17 is the only size ET Street Radial available for 17" wheels.
reuter 06-10-2005, 07:08 PM they hook great. i try not to launch hard (10 bolt + 6 speed +4.10s) but ripping the 1-2 there is no spin at all.
nytrus1 06-12-2005, 11:07 AM On my daily driver 94 camaro with nitrous
the best with 27x10.50x15 et streets---1.58 60 ft.
so far with 255/50-16 MT drag radials---1.55 60 ft.
on the motor--- 1.68 60 ft.
I run them @ 12-14 psi and drive them to/from the track (18 miles each way)@ that pressure.
The stiffer sidewall and radial construction makes for a very steady ride with little to no sway unlike et streets.
The bad part with these tires is the treadwear.
I will be buying a second set at the rate I am wearing these out :(
