What are you hoping to run this season?

I am shooting for 11.8x with the set up I currently have, but running on ET Streets and skinnies up front. When I got my sig time I was on 275 Nitto DRs and 275 kumho exsta MXs up front, so hopefully the added traction and decreased weight will help me achieve that. Oh, and cooler weather too!
After I do that, I will be getting a 9", 4.10s, 3600 stall, LE3 heads/cam package, and about a 100 shot. After all that I am hoping for at least real low 11s, and maybe high 10s.

Hope to get in the 7.0's 1/8 and 11.0's 1/4 on motor by the end of the year.

I'm looking for a 9 second pass also but I'm also doing it at altitude. Typical race day here is 5000 feet density altitude.

I hope to run the entire season without a major mishap. It would be nice to end the season with the same car that I started out with.

I'd like to go sub 12s on the motor. I'm not sure how that's going to work out. Once I get bored w/ that, I'll start spraying it. Ideally, I'll be happy w/ the car just running. This will be the 4th motor in a 17,000 mile '95TA.

Later,

Steve.

I am hoping for mid 11s and 117-119mph traps. It will be interesting trying to get the car to hook though.

Nick...Tri-State has the first TnT on 4/16. I plan to head down there with a few friends, one of them with a supercomp dragster. Let me know if you want to head down with us.

My goal was 10.90's on the motor at 5,300 elevation. Good DA for me is 6,000'. First time out with the new combo was 11.33@122mph. Just need to knock off .34 tenths and I'm there. I think I'm one of the fastest 6 speed LT1's on the motor, well in the top 5. Should run low 10's at sea level. I'll report back with this weekends new times.

Since I never got into the 12's last year (albeit, really, really close!!!:thumb: ) I'm looking for SOLID 12's this year;).

I've got a couple serious plans for the car that should pretty much guarantee 12's, so long as I can get the car to hook, and everything stays bolted together!!:D Look at my sig, and there are a couple key ingredients missing from the mix.....lets see who can figure them out!!;)

I'd like to say I'm shooting for 11's, but I don't want to get over-optimistic!

Looking to go 11.2-11.3 on motor with the new 6" rod, 847 cammed, 12:1 355..Then looking to go 9.90-10.0 on the 200 shot of NX. The car should weigh in at right around 3300# with the weight coming out, and the 8 pt. going in.

I am looking for high 10's on motor this year. 13.6:1 compression 396 cc306 and a set of lt1 heads that support 580 hp might swap cams if its not enough go solid roller

on the 300 hp shot hoping for a 9.7x

I was informed last night that I'll be running low 10's due to time constraints. My chassis is certified but I don't have fire pants, gloves, my comp license or anything else needed to run under 10's. And March 12th is approaching quickly!!!

Good luck with those goals!!!

I'm hoping to break into the 12's, had a hard time working the bugs out last summer. Previous best was 13.49 @ 106, I've added BMR LCA's, PHR, and torque arm, and plan on buying HAL adj. shocks.

What do you guys think?
I think, and have been told that the mph is there, just the 60' time of 2.19? that definately isn't helping.

Good luck to everybody this year!

03-04-2005, 02:00 PM
That will help. What are you using for tires? If you get that 60' down below 1.8, you'll be close to your goals. I have the HAL's on our car and like them. Those with road race springs, air bags, a Spohn TA and 27x11.5x15 qtp's got me 1.6x 60's on the motor.

It's amazing how much abuse you'll put up with from people when they work on your car for free. ;)

BTW, I've decided to do away with the zip ties and make you ride in the car and hold it.

Just street tires, Dayton 275/40/R17, don't really want to go with Drag Radials on my old 10 bolt, at least not without a T/A cover on it.
I did go to the track a few weeks after my 13.49 run with the BMR stuff on the car, and with the car developing a miss on the way there, it still ran a 13.50 popping and cracking all the way down the track, so there is definately more in the car, just trying to get bugs worked out and used to the new set-up. I kind of think my car isn't getting enough air just because it runs stronger with the air filter off. So I am going to make a new CAI and buy a new K&N.

The next thing that I want to do is make another 12 second pass and get another 1.6 sixty foot time. I only have 1 of each now. Then I want to get into the 7s in the 1/8th (8.18 is my current best.) Maybe I can take some more weight out of the car... Current raceweight is about 4100# :D

You need to start running IHRA. Our track went IHRA 2 years ago.

No chassis certification until 9.00. 10.00 to 11.49 only need a single layer jacket. 9.00 to 10.00 only need a 2 layer jacket. 9.00 and quicker need 2 layer jacket and pants, neck coller. Gloves are required at 8.49 and quicker.

No real comp license until 7.99. Just buy an IHRA membership and tell them what ET break you're going to run in. I have a D membership license. That covers 9.00 to 10.99. No medical required.

All NHRA applications to run quicker than 9.99 should come with a jar of vasoline.

Brian I am nipping at your heals ......Hoping for the 11's myself....We'll see Sunday......Not gonna be the best of weather for any super numbers but I am gonna give it a hell of a shot.....Only thing holding me back last fall was the shifting issues with the obd-1 computer , hopefully that is fixed now and I can get into the 11's

i've got some suspension parts on order, panhard rod, LCA's, airbag
opti is on order as well as wheel studs and lugs, plus a shift light so i can catch my 6600-6700rpm shift point

went 12.51 @ 112.75 last year on a 1.86 60ft bone stock suspension, bad opti and shifting at 6k on 16" x 10.5" ET Streets

this year i'm on bigs n lils with 15" x 11.5" ET Streets....hoping for some times under mid 11's and traps of 119mph or better, car weighs about 3400 with me in it and i still have alot too remove

i really wanna get the short time down in the 1.6's, i'd say that my biggest goal. if i can pull that off, the rest is cake

Goal is 10.99 on a 150 shot, 11.99 N/A. Will be putting in 4.11's in the 12-bolt soon (which will be a FAR better gear choice over my current 3.73's), and plan to do some motor and suspension tuning to achieve this goal, while still running untouched stock TB, Intake, and shortblock on pump gas (while still sporting full stereo system and no icing of the intake or other tricks of that nature). Might have to borrow a set of skinnies to hit my goal though. :(

Stephen,
I don't even know where there is an IHRA sanctioned track in this area. Maple Grove, Cecil County, Atco, E-Town and Island are all under 1.5 hours from me and they're all NHRA sanctioned. I also prefer the overkill on the safety equipment. I'd much rather be safe than sorry.

My chassis is certified to run 7.50's for 3 years - not so bad IMO. It was nice to hear the chassis cert guy say "man, this car is very well-built!"

Yeah, it does cost more money but it's all part of the price of the game to me. :)

Jax, nearest IHRA track to us is MIR (Maryland) and another in central PA near the Penn State Campus. Both 3+ hours away. I'm now over kill on NHRA safety requirements too. I no longer need the roll bar and 5 point harness. But like you said better safe than sorry.

I had our cage certified this morning. I lucked out and didn't have to fix anything. Funny thing is, the new rules are only letting cars be stickered for 8.50 as you probably know. The guy said because mine was an existing cage that was added on too, he could sticker it for 7.50 for now. It'll change to 8.50 in three years at the re-cert. Not that it really matters but, it kinda makes me re-think that big thumper turbo idea for 2006.
