the panel that is right in front of the hatch? behind t-tops (if you have them) t-top cars are the only ones that are painted black that i have seen. Anyways yeah....you can wax anything you want. You can wax the windshield if you want to.

not quite, avoid plastic or vinyl with the wax, it will leave spots on them over time that cannot be removed

and the ribbon is painted black on all V8s with t-tops (with the exception of the 35th)

some hard tops have the entire roof painted black including the ribbon

I know exactly what part you're talking about :)

On my SS, it's painted, and I've applied many coats of Zaino. I haven't had any problems at all. I'd guess your's is painted also, but to be sure, try applying a very small amount of wax in an inspicuous area, like a corner where it meets the fender, and see what the results are. My guess it yours is painted too, and you shouldnt have any trouble waxing it.

Good luck ;)

Why wouldn't you? It's painted, right?

I think you need to buff that thing out some more. It's not shiny enough. Just kidding. The only thing that wax will do to plastic parts is build up and get hazy. You can use some polishing compound and a buffer or elbow grease to get it off.
