WHat kind of gearsbadasschevy625 03-01-2005, 09:10 PM Hi i am going to be purchseing some 4.10s for my car and i dont have a dam clue what kind of gears to buy whats good pluses minus thanks for any info 93LT1355 03-01-2005, 11:23 PM I'm ordering Motive 4.10 gears in about a week. I don't think you can really go wrong if you stay with known gear companys. I had Richmond 3.73's in my car for about a year and didn't have a problem with them. They whined but when I took that rear end out to sell to my friend, we readjusted them and they make no noise now. Good luck on your search for some gears. CreatiVe2 03-02-2005, 01:21 PM i have the motives.. and they are the best thing i have gotten for my car, performance wise.... they should have been installed from the factory!! no whine, i got them from www.ls1speed.com you MUST ge the install kit!!! WestCoast96Z28 03-02-2005, 01:36 PM You should also check if you have a series 2 or 3 carrier. I also have a 96 A4 with 2.73 gears, so I need a series 2 gears. You might be lucky and have 3.23 gears, so you can use the more popular series 3 gears. Makes a difference, b/c you'll almost never find used series 2 gears. How do you know? Check your RPO codes on your driver side door. I think it's the "GU" series...that should say your gearing. Or look at your shifter. If the lowest selectable gear is "2" and then D and then OD, the you have series 2. If you have "1" and then "2" and then D...., you have series 3. But best to check the factor RPO codes to be sure. Do this research before you buy your gears and have to return them. CreatiVe2 03-02-2005, 01:52 PM im petty sure the sock gears in the 96-94 for A4 was 3.23.... mine was 3.42 in a M6..... the older A4 (93-95) were known to have 2.73's search aroudn the forum for "1996 stock gear ratio" badasschevy625 03-04-2005, 08:28 AM well i know mine has 3.23s GreenDemon 03-05-2005, 04:01 AM im petty sure the sock gears in the 96-94 for A4 was 3.23.... mine was 3.42 in a M6..... the older A4 (93-95) were known to have 2.73's search aroudn the forum for "1996 stock gear ratio" 2.73s were standard on auto 4th gens. 3.23s were considered the "performance" axle and were an option, although they weren't marketed as such. Most people that bought autos probably weren't that worried about the ratios anyway. | ||
