Where is the grease at, and what products have you tried?

Just noticed you have a 93 A4 too. I took off the accessory bracket and water pump to have them powder coated so the whole bottom of the engine area. Mostly just the years of taking things apart and spilling and then the build up. Ive tried the, warm the car and spray and rinse from the Zone. STP Gunk ect. I just wondered if anyone had discovered something that really works. Thanks

Remember to be super careful with water around the opti.

I use a diluted all purpose cleaner and a variety of brushes and mitts to clean the engine.

You might try to wipe off as much of the excess grease as possible, and then try cleaning.

I learned that valuable lesson once before. Now I guard it like my first born. Thanks

In areas where there are no sensors, this includes the opti, try brake parts cleaner. Be sure to wear goggles.

A Spatula. Coat with PAM so nothing ever sticks again.

Other than brake cleaner, I've never had anything remove grease.

Brake cleaner is the way to go, jus watch your eyes and the area your cleaning cuz your paint will disappear if you carried away, lol

Finally a good answer! Do I need to follow it up with water or just wipe it? Will spraying Pam really work? Thanks

Have you tried Simple Green yet? I'm repainting my '84 right now, and I've been clearing a lot of old rustproofing off surfaces by spraying undiluted Simple Green and letting it soak for a while. Then, a bit of brush action wipes the gunk off.

Oh Yeaaa!! Brake cleaner!!. I tried the simple green too. I used it after the brake cleaner to finish it off. They had four types at Zone and I read the chemicals and even the cheap 99 cent a can was the same. I bought it and the grease caked on for 12 years sprayed away like dry sand! Thanks!!
