Is it heavily to change a OEM radio against a alpine ? or pioneer deh-p77dh ???

Hi,

I have a question about changing the standard OEM Radio in a Pontia Firebird TRANS AM 1996. I want to change the Radio against a Alpine D-??? (I don´t konw the exact name) or a Pioneer DEH-P77DH CD Receiver.

How easy or heavily is the change? What do I need? What is important?

The most important thing is the steering wheel buttuns. I don´t want to lose this funktion!

Are there only the Alpine and Pioneer CD Receivers Models to use on a Firebird with steering wheel buttons?

Or are there other Receivers aviable?

It's fairly easy to swap the OEM radio to aftermarket. Just pull the trim from around the OEM radio, remove the 3 screws, pull the radio out to where you can unplug the antenna and wiring harness. GM uses 1.5 din size radios. Practically all aftermarket radios are 1 din, so you will need an adapter kit and wiring harness, unless you find a 1.5 din that you like. You will also need an antenna adapter as GM uses a non-standard size plug. Any aftermarket radio that has a remote control can make use of the steering wheel contols. I suspect LS1rulz will be in here to mention the name of the part you need to use the steering wheel controls. You might check Ike Sound for prices on radios.
