Front Tire Weight Difference

Has anyone actually compared the weights of the following two tires:

MT Sportsman Front 26 X 7.5 X 15

vs.

Pep Boys special, 165R15 or whatever the corresponding size is (can't think, too early).

They'll be going on a Centerline Telstar 15 X 4.

Since the tires are roughly the same size, I'd say the 165R15 should be a bit heavier because of the steel belts of the radial. The 165R15 will also be a lot cheaper and will last longer.

Doing a quick web search:
The MT 26 x 7.5 is 16 pounds
A 165R15 is between 16 and 18 pounds depending on the brand. Most are 16.

Good deal, thanks for the info.

Good to know. I currently run the 165's, but have often wondered if my car would go faster on true front runners. Does anyone know? I would think the rolling resistance would be less with the MT's or any brand of belted front runner. Just curious if anyone has tracked this sort of thing.

I'll weigh mine once they're mounted. I have 165s on a set of D-10 Bogarts now. They'll go on the same wheel.

Well, I can't say for sure how much of a difference there would be, but less weight is always better.
