Difference between '05 GT and '99-'04 GT is only 3 tenths and 1 mph!

I just read this months Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords mag. Evan Smith ran a 5-speed '05 Stang GT to a 13.4 at 102 bone stock. He ran an '01 to a 13.7 at 101 years ago. Same track, same driver, similar track conditions. This is for all the people on this board that think the '05 is so fast and the '99-'04 so slow.

Ive raced 909-04 gt's at the track and they are TURDS. I have 3-4 cars min. on them with the old ls1 auto. I dont really care about e.t.'s to be honest. I have also raced many on the highway and they couldnt hang for ****. about as fast as a 350z thats it brudda. mostly low 14's @99 or so :D

Seen numerous 05's already run 13.3's bone stock, theve run 13.1's stock w/ a simple computer reflash..best ive seen from a 99-04 ever was a 13.7....05 are running low 12's already w/ not alot at all...99-04's w/ more mods have a hard time even gettin into the low 13's...Live w/ it 05's are alot faster...Its already been proven the 3v responds WAY better to simple mods then the 2v on top of having 50 more hp out the gate.

The new mustang could have trapped higher and ran better but FORD Streteched the gear ratio's out on the 5 speed for better gas milage wich put a hurting on the trap speeds and quarter times.
If it trapped 102 and ran a 13.4 then he had one hell of a good sixty.

Dude, do you really feel you have to defend your car???? You like your car, that's fine, but your not going to change anyone's mind with this kind of BS thread. Face it, the 05 GT performance wise is the superior car, as it should be with 35 more horse, etc... The same way TPI owners had to accespt they are number 2 when when the LT1 came out, then again for the LS1, and now the LS2... Your car is yesterday's news, Deal With It!

On the crappy, dusty tracks I race on, DRs can easily knock off 3 tenths compared to new street tires. Maybe good tracks are different?

I know. I like my car and hate the looks of the '05 GT. I also don't like them gaining weight. I am just trying to put the facts out here for everybody to see. Some morons on this board think my car is 1 second slower than an '05 GT stock for stock by the way they exaggerate.

I don't think so.
The '05 GT is about 50-75lbs. heavier, puts down ~40rwhp more than the earlier cars and they hook very well.
The only reason the traps are lower is the "electronic nanny" on the drive-by-wire. Remove that with a simple flash tune and the cars will run low-13's at 106+mph and drop a '99-'04 GT like a bag of dirt.
Just curious...why is a Mustang owner on an F-body board criticizing the '05 GT and actually arguing with F-body owners about it on the Kills Forum?

SteveY has the facts to back his position. He compared best stock times, same driver, similar conditions. He also had facts to back up his claim that earlier GTs were hundreds of pounds lighter than the late model GTs. If you disagree, rather than general "talkin outta his ass" comments, address the *specific* issues that you think SteveY is wrong about, and give facts/links to support you position. 5. One morning, I was conveniently shipping packages. I realized it was near the time that Antz told everybody he got off work. Edmunds aside, Ford's site lists the Mustang's shipping weight at 3356 lbs. They don't list, or at least I could not find a weight for the 2004 Mustang (only other one listed on their site).

The article with the 05 GT says it went 13.39 @ 101.8 mph. I was at E-town the day the 2002 GT went 13.7. I don't remember if it went 13.70, 13.79, or somewhere in between. So there is somewhere between .31 and .40 difference in the ETs. Less in MPH.

I do remember the conditions (for the 2002 GT) were stellar (I ran my 99 at the same time). I cannot vouch for how close or not close the conditions were for the 05 GT, as I was not at that one.

Also, I do not know if 13.39 is the best ever recorded for a bone stock 05. For that matter, I don't know if Evan Smith's 13.7x is the best ever for a 99-04, but I've never heard of a quicker one.

IMHO, 3-4 tenths is probably about right. It also seems rather obvious that the TM on the 05 is doing some serious damage to both ET and MPH. Such is life, I suppose.

Yes, I never saw the 13s at 4000'+ elevation, yet. I was just asking the opinion of people about the tires. Is that so bad? I could care less about the '05 GT. I don't like the looks of them. I was posting the facts about the differences of them so idiots like Antz could see the truth. That's all. I saw two before and after dyno tests of removing the nanny, adding timing, leaning out the mixture, etc. One gained 15 rwhp, the other 20. A real man would admit he was wrong about the Edmunds links, but obviously you are not a real man. You are just as big of jerk as you always were, you are back on my ignore list.

Yea this was years ago....I really had no knowledge of mustangs at the time, all I basically knew it that they werent as fast as fbodies stock. Through the years since Ive read alot of copies of MM&FF and frequent the corral often to educate myself on them and since learned alot and to respect them.
He did this all the time, talking about beating rice on route 18. LOL, this was ONE race on rt.18 and UltimateOrangeSS was in the passenger seat.
He claimed to later own an LS1, was in the Army, owned an LT1. I owned a 01 Ls1 for a short time when I lived in south florida to help my uncle open up his italian pastry shop, but after the 1st insurance note it was gone, UltimateOrangeSS came and stayed for a few weeks...after that vacation I guess you could say our freindship went down south. I was stationed @ Ft. Richardson AK in the army where I did buy a 96 LT1 323 car, put a cai and a cutout on it and then thought "who the hell has a camaro in alaska", so i sold it 2 mths later. As far as people calling me out, Tim and I sh!t talked alot, and I since found to respect what he did/ is doing w/ his 98. I have no clue who the other guy even is, and the night you called me out I told you I was about a six pack deep already hence me not obliging to race...Im sure none of you give a rats ass about any of this, I just had to clear a few things up. As far as steveY, I have a dead on similar opinion as snorman on him. Not trying to butter up to anybody, or change the past I just call it like I see it.

Not really... we're just at a point where an average joe worker can afford to buy one and has the other issues dealt with. In other words, the kids are gone, no longer am paying for college, only the wife and I, and we can finally afford one (or two) and still live comfortably.

When I was in my 20s and single, I couldn't afford it.
When I was in my 30s and married, we couldn't afford it and even if we could, it made no sense to buy a 2 seater when there were kids to ferry around. In my 40s we can finally afford it and there are only 2 of us.

Here's somthing to ponder... lets say you have a typical Fbody purchaser of a few years ago, or even now. Let's say it's a guy in his mid 20s to mid 30s. His choice is an Fbody or a C5 Corvette of the same year. Wonder of wonders, both cars cost the same amount of money. Looks in Autotrader and it's the same across the board. Similar milage and condition and an Fbody and C5 costs the same. Which car does he buy?

How do you find a C5 that costs the same as an F-body, assuming they are the same year, same mileage, same condition, etc? The C5 books about twice as high as the F-body.

All that means is you got lucky finding a good price on a C5 and didn't look hard enough for an F-body that should cost half price for the same miles, year, condition, etc.

I kind of think he was talking hypothetically, to prove a point.

I knew that! :) I have 4 daughters and sure cant afford the Z06 or the Viper I would really like to be driving ..so I mess around and try to do with what i have..But I guess building your own ride UP is more satisfying in the end. Or atleast thats what Im trying to convice myself ;)

1. Antz did have a blue LT1 Z28.
2. Antz talked mad sh*t about Mustangs, I called him out on several occasions and he wouldn't come out for a run. One evening, I offered (on this very board) to drive to Eatontown and meet him for a run...anywhere. He backed out.
3. Antz frequently posted kills from when he would leave work in the morning (worked the night shift?). He did this all the time, talking about beating rice on route 18.
4. Antz told everybody he worked at the UPS hub in Eatontown, a mere ~1/4 mile from my office at the time. I actually saw his car in the parking lot there one morning, numbers from the track still on the window.
5. One morning, I was conveniently shipping packages. I realized it was near the time that Antz told everybody he got off work. I was "lazy" finishing and leaving. ;) As "luck" would have it, Antz was leaving work and I pulled out behind him, and decided to see if he wanted to play with my GT. He took off...I lost him on a back road after getting stuck behind a slower car.
6. He claimed to later own an LS1, was in the Army, owned an LT1...whatever. I lost track and post infrequently on this board now.
7. Yes, Tim Teal, Mike Morris and several other Mustang owners other than myself called him out. He never obliged. Lately, he doesn't talk nearly the smack he did a few years ago.

Strangely, I find my opinion of SteveY to be the same as Antz's. I don't feel the need to play "patty cake" with a guy who never saw the 13's, lists synthetic oil in his sig, and can't figure out which tires (http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=340477) are best. It's obvious he's butthurt (http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333010) about the progress the '05 GT has made, and feels the need to soothe his pain by posting about it on an F-body board, where he knows he'll get sympathy.
Being told I don't know what h*ll I'm talking about by him is irony at its finest. 15-20rwhp by removing the timing dump on shifts...
I have no desire to dig up curb weights for 2-valve GT's...he can pat himself on the back for his Edmunds links.
