Articblast 02-17-2005, 12:18 AM Driving to work the other day and was stopped at the light at the edge of town putting a CD in and this solid black 00-02 Cobra rolled up. I think he thought my car was intimidated when he revved it. I revved mine a little jerking the car side to side a bit. Right as the light turned green and I eased into it and this guy starts barking 'em, so I was like okay it's on. I stomped on it and got ridculous tire spin, got up right beside him just pacing him, this dude looks over and waves a bye bye motion with his hand and I keep right there with him. We're at around 90ish and this dude seems a little worried looking back and forth at me and then ahead. I was like enough of this dude, we were going too fast and he was riding the center line coming extremely close to swapping paint so I honked, waved bye bye and floored it. About then we were doing 100 -105 or so and I absolutely raped this dude, he got left real quick! He definetly wasn't supercharged because I raced a '04 Cobra once and it was closer than this. I guessing them Cobra dudes don't like it when us Camaro guys supercharge our ls1's!!

Articblast 02-17-2005, 08:52 PM Ran a blown '04 Cobra at the track in Memphis this past summer, he ran a 12.4 to my 11.9 and he had all the goodies. Actually his car sounded better than mine. I love the way they sound!
Articblast 02-17-2005, 08:54 PM That same day I got whooped by a blown '78 Vette. That dude was running crazy #'s in the 10's!!!!

The guy couldnt run for ****?...so Im sure you knew all the details on his run huh...weather,temp., elevation, etc. Evan Smith(w/ his doctored up track at Englishtown) and a few others ran a 12.4 ,the average good driver in decent weather run 12.6-7's...Your the last person to be talkin about someones driving ability.

MMFFs mag. Evan Smith was the driver. This is not the norm, rather a record.

I love the way they sound! What does "all the goodies" mean? Fairly standard bolt-on fare for Terminators consists of a CAI and cat-back, 2.8 pulley, reworked or aftermarket intercooler, and a tune. Power goes from 380 or so to about 480 rwhp. With those mods, 11s should be easy.
yellavette 02-21-2005, 11:41 PM That's not all together true. Do all the common mods on the Cobra and you might see 500 rwhp. There's a lot of blown LS1's making way more than that....just not on the stock guts like the Cobra.

Last year I was at Atco and there were a few other '03/'04 Cobras racing.
A guy in a black coupe had "all the goodies" (at the time, there are more "goodies" now). He had headers, midpipe, catback, pullies, CAI, flash tuner (Predator or SCT, can't remember which) and was on 17" DR's. He was running mid-12's. I saw him go 12.5. I tried talking to him early in the evening, and honestly, his "holier than thou" attitude led me to just walk away. The funny story is I ran a 12.6 that night and he ended up coming over to me to see how I was running those times in a stock car on F1's. I gave him a few pointers and he ended up going 12.2 on another pass.
Lots of mods and hp doesn't automatically equal low ET's.

JasonLately, "all the common mods" consist of CAI, pulleys, exhaust and a ported blower. The cars are evolving to the point where ~500rwhp on these mods is pretty common. Pulley/CAI/tuned cars are in the 450rwhp range. Add in a catback or midpipe and they're around 475rwhp.
500+rwhp '03/'04's are now commonplace and very easy to achieve. A swap to a Whipple/KB is good for mid-500's with no other mods. A Whipple/KB with a catback and upgraded MAF (stock MAF pegs around 475-500rwhp) and injectors (stock injectors max'd around 550rwhp) will be in the ~575rwhp range. Add a catback and they'll hit 600rwhp. Furthermore, they'll actually get better mileage than stock with a good tune and have the same street manners.
