I hadn't washed the car in weeks since it was so rainy, Seattle almost. Broke down and did it yesturday, even though they are forecasting more rain. Well under some of the puddles must have been some freshly laid pavement or repaired potholes cause I had tar splatter all down the passenger side of the car and major build up in the wheelwells.
So I spent an hour, and the half can of Turtle Wax bug & tar remover I had, to get the splatter off the side of the car, but it was useless on the wheelwell build up. It was like shooting a tank with a .22. Also tried WD-40. No go.
So I researched the car boards and found a recommendation for Tarminator. Only place that carries it in town is Pep Boys. Worth the drive to get it.
Stuff ate up the tar. Still took a lot of rubbing with an old t shirt, but it was much better than the Turtle wax. Pics:
