and, while were at it, anyone takin out the a/c box? Im just wondering if ther are some bolts to get from the inside, or are they all on the outside of the car?
any help or pics would be appreciated.

There are bolts from the inside and outside. You have to remove the dash to get the box out. I just got doing this past week on mine.

oh jesus christ. any pics? did you remove the whole thing? or did you fix it to keep the heater? were keepin the heater, so it all cant come out. I was lookin at pics of it at work from the parts dept. illustration, and it looks like I could just cut off the part that sticks out of the firewall, leaving everything inside the firewall intact and just make a blockoff plate to seal the box up and keep the heater/vent. system intact while at the same time, getting rid of the a/c accumulater in the eng. compartment. any ideas/thoughts anyone?
ken, would you sell that box? just the upper/lower half that houses the accumulater/blower? if you'd sell it reasobly cheap, Id love to have it on hand to see it from the inside before I cut anything and to have a spare around if I decide it just wont work. let me know

were gonna leave it alone for now. the headers/valve covers clear fine, so no biggie. when we pull the dash to replace it and get rid of all the extra wireing we'll do it then. but woulod still like to see how others have done this if anyone has.

I took mine out. Its a HUGE pain in the ass. Billingsley makes a plate to cover the hole left by the box, pics on their website. Tons more room in the engine bay now.

Towards the bottom of the page.

I had to do it this past spring. It took up pretty much my whole weekend. Then again, I took off a lot more than just my A/C/
