1quikZ 02-13-2005, 10:47 PM Just curious if anyone has any "special" method to hook real good with the A4? Most times (street) I just punch it when I see green, but i have spun the tires numerous times, to the point where I get into a burnout and just look like an A$$hole trying the spin his tires. This spring there building a brand new saturday night special track right near me, and im definetly gonna go but I want to hook real good and get a good 60 etc.

Birdman7389 02-13-2005, 10:59 PM With your mods, you should be lighting the tires up anytime you let on the gas. I know mine hate me because of the period of learning to re-drive after the new trans and stall....
Fuels94TA 02-13-2005, 11:51 PM To hook up an auto you need good tires to help alone those launches. What always work for me is a power brake take off. Since I have a stock stall, I press on the brake and gas it up to 1800 rpm will always give me good launches. You have a bigger stall so you might take it up a bit.
Spinner 02-14-2005, 01:09 AM Hooking fine on ET radials at the track. Stock suspension, lowering springs, ETs and 4.11s
94ZRiCeKiLr 02-14-2005, 04:46 PM Lower control arms, Torque Arm, Front coilovers, sticky tires.
and of course, PRACTICE!
1quikZ 02-14-2005, 06:06 PM Yeah, Im getting better tho, I smoked a RX7 and a Civic on the same light today, wasnt even close.....
BirchMan98z 02-14-2005, 10:56 PM I hook pretty well on street tires with an M6... it's all about technique.

LOL, I would HOPE you would smoke a Civic, ESPECIALLY with a CC306
94ZRiCeKiLr 02-15-2005, 01:35 AM speaking of technique, here's what i do....
1) HELLACIOUS burnout (drag radials need to be HOT ;) )
2) stage the car and bring the converter up to around 1500 rpm (yes that's low i know i'll explain in a sec)
3) when the lights drop, rather than stall it up as high as possible and just come off the brake to launch, i release the brake and simultaneously stab the throttle about 50% open or so (known as "flashing" the converter)...if i come out too hard it'll barbecue the tires but when i get it right, she hooks up, picks the nose up as high as itll go with the wheels on the ground (could very possibly pick one up off the track when i put it on the skinnies this season :D ) and pounds me in the back of the head with the seatback. :)
1.6 sixty foots on 17 inch drag radials and all stock suspension excpet for LCAs, a panhard bar and a removed front swaybar. :D
soontobeGN 02-15-2005, 12:31 PM Best way to hook?
Buy a V6.
Put chain's on your tires :D

Im definetly gonna try that one, btw I knew i was gonna mow the civic but i got more satisfaction out of it because it was a ricer special, pop can muffler and all :D
soontobeGN 02-15-2005, 10:50 PM I was just makin a joke, no real substance to that comment......
89TramsAmGTA 02-15-2005, 11:05 PM If you are waiting for the green light before you punch it your are waiting to long. Go on the last yellow. You need a good set of drag tires. I use the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. They work real good. You have to heat them up for maybe 5 seconds. If I used my street tires the car would just sit there and spin. Allen
